It did not. But yes, we had WMO editing for a long time (but just very basic).

I'm almost 100% sure it did...Just very very basic. From what i remembered it was dots displayed 2d and you could rotate it till you could make some sense of what it is your looking at and then reshape the wmo via the dots. I remember i only used one feature which was flatten wmo and it worked well ingame.

Edit: I undusted a few corners of my HD and found a pretty recent version, i think the second last build. I also found 5 wmos from 2.x.x which i had already flattened. Here is some pics but not much can be seen due to the flatness of the wmos due to an experiment.

This is a wmo of a temple in ZA

Another few views of the same WMO

Finally, not moving the object around every second and letting the program do its work, the drawing of the triangles of this flat wmo.

The concept is great, but it's useless... for now.

Useless? How is it useless? Seriously... ¬_¬ Not knowing how to put something to use doesn't make it useless. In fact, I'd say that maybe it shows that YOU are useless in coming up with ideas, and in understanding the full potential of things like this. Hmm..

@basic wmo stuff: Yes we had this before, I remember now, but it was ****ing slow and you couldn't bring your own WMOs into Game(ok I have no UV-Mapping at the Moment but it works for the Geoset/Faces etc.):
