Well, it's mid June, and you know what that means: end of the school year. Every site I've been to taht requires community developement experiences a slow point at this time of year. Maybe MMOwned is taking a blow from this too. However, it should improve in the summer, when people aren't cramming down on schoolwork so they can pass.

I for one only messed around with MEs for a couple minutes during the school year, but school just ended Friday and now I've got much more time on my hands, and have had significant progress in the past two days.

I don't like weapon/gear swaps, and although I like zone edits, I can't use them and don't really have any desire to change anything other than textures in my game.

I think it's a bad idea for the talented model editors to leave. I'm inspired by great edits such as Andrige's. If all the pros and great artists leave... well.

Even I've considered leaving after the first post in my Horse+TalbukDraenei thread was "where can I get this". No comment, criticism, or suggestion, just "GIMME!!11!1!". However, It's either this or IMVU's crap policies.

Why not just ride it out until a couple week sinto summer, when people have sttled out of school and into summer. If it's still dead then, then it's dead forever.

Making a judgement at this time of year, however, is a bad idea.

I think the most effective first step is to reorganize the structure of the ME forum and go from there.
    1. Merge the Model Editing Guides and Programs and the Showoff and Discussion forums into a ME: Guides, Programs, Projects and Showoff forum (this is based on current sizes) (for a ME to be a project it must include three of the ranges in #3 below)
    2. Change Model Editing Questions and Requests into ME: Questions, Requests and Discussions.
    3. Create 4 new sub-forums based on the ranges of Edits:
    *ADT Edits
    *WMO Edits
    *M2 Edits
    *Database Edits

Using this format we can properly gauge the growth of certain projects or edits and find out which is the best way to stimulate growth in the community.

PS. By stimulate I mean that if there are not enough edits in one area, you can set up a contest specifically to get new edits in that area.[/quote]

Ok you got me on databases, your right about wmo edits ( but that could be an area to stimulate growth in), adt texture changes would fall under adt Edits, and lastly what about the race to race edits, custom models, druid alterations (I definitely think there is enough there for a sub-forum, aka. M2). Sorry I am sorta posting in a hurry.

If you classified everything into a sub-forum, what would go in the main one?

    Questions and requests.

That way you can insta-ban anyone who posts one of those in the wrong section.

    All we need is:

Show Off & Discussion - (WIP, Stuff with no download links, guides, discussion about techniques and what not) No tags required, more lax and a better C+C then just it's good.
Questions and Requests - (Questions about the Model Edits, and requests for edits) Tags include [Question], [World Edit], [Reskin], [Swap], [Model].

With everything else in the main forum. Posts with downloads and what not. Tags include: [World Building], [PvP Edit], [Instance Edit], [Reskin], [Swap], [Custom Model], [DBC], [Exploration]

Look man, it took me about a day of decent research n' a download of a pack of tools to be able to reskin / model swap whatever the hell I wanted. I honestly havn't been on or edited in a while, but I was pretty discusted by all of these half baked dragon edits...

So... your basically saying that our current format is perfectly fine, and the saturation of "custom frostmournes" and shotty edits are just a fluke of nature. You do know that if we contain them to their own sub-forum we wont have to give them another glance and the good edits can be properly focused on.

Dude...making more sections wont solve anything...Many sub sections will be left untouched and inactive, and the sections which contain the edits which are already being over done will flourish...This solves nothing. It even makes us spread the butter too thin one could say. I seriously do not see how this will change anything...

Why not just do three sections: Beginner Model Edits (Simple BLP M2 weap swaps mount swaps etc..) and Advanced Model Edits (WMO ADT DBC etc..) and Cheats(as bad as it is ive seen quite a few of these on the forums >.>), it would consist of GM Island Dev/Programmers island or maphacks in general (not world builds though), Keep Guides & Programs and also keep Discussions/WIP/Show-off

or we can leave it as it is?? :s. There are already tags do describe what kind of edit it is. Are you too lazy to skim to seconds to see which edits u want to see and which you dont?? Thats like saying now for exploits we need class exploits, bg exploits, faction exploits, etc...Just read through, if your looking for a world build im sure u could find if it is or isnt one from the title.

Art is something not many people will understand or like, and your art will be truly revered when you leave, AZO. See the renascence painters.

I'm by no means a pro editor but by working with drawings in general I understand your pain. Don't give up, almost no one will really understand all the time you took unless they try to do it by themselves.

I do my newbish model edits but I don't post them here because they're all easy to do and I personally think it's an offense for the great ones.

I hope you come back. I don't have a lot of time to post here, but your works truly amaze me.

I have to admit.. The flood of quick texture/model swaps, from one wow model to another, put me off browsing the ME section here. (yes..! I know.. the last thing I posted was a flying pink elephant..tsk tsk). But seeing a lot of the guys who really opened my eyes to what is possible - and indirectly taught me their methods - posts in this thread, I've gotta say guys you've resparked the passion that is ME. You don't see a lot of ME'ers discuss or even posess the same opinion on it that I've always had. And whether or not others will follow, I sure as hell will contribute my real projects here. I grew up here, under the wings of you elites. I, and so many others owe it to you to not let this community fall. Let the leechers steal my work, they can even tag it as their own for all I care. I love to share what I know I put real effort into. Whether or not other people know it was mine.

Race swaps, petty model swaps and cheap texture swaps can only amuse people for so long. Maybe they won't ever take to the more difficult side of editing. That's not for me to press on them. I just hope to be able to inspire the naive to progress themselves and this community.
