I have a problem with the lights =\ i sleep at same floor as my parents, but there is a blinded window at the top of my door where you can see the light from my pc, my parents always have their door open so they can see the lights at night. Most times my parents already sleep but else I just go on my laptop under the blankets till im sure they sleep, then back to me pc =D ^^

thats why you should dim the monitor light to minimal, trust me, its not noticable on the distance (let alone on a small window)

If you think your about to get busted, you might want to do a quick shutdown (hold power button for 5 or so seconds) because if your parents come in and your computer has little lights all over the keyboard and your in bed sleeping, it's gonna look suspicious

Hotkey some ascent server or something, hit it quickly, turn off screen, go to bed.

Now you can make an excuse that you have a server running, and if they don't believe that you can just prove it :P

I guess I'm kinda lucky since I live on the topfloor with my 2 younger brothers, my room is above the living room a k a The Big TV Room. The only time I've been busted was when I made noise in the MORNING inside the bathroom :x

Nice guide. My room is upstairs and my parents room is right next to mine. My dad doesn't bother waking up since he has to wake up early. My mom is downstairs most of the time. I can just close the laptop and dash for the bed. It not like she runs up the stairs Lol... Guess I am pretty lucky!
