    Boost WoW performance

Firstly, I don't take credits for this, found this on WoW forums and decided to share.
Some of you must have noticed the lower FPS number since 2.3 came out. The solution for this is opening Windows Media Player before starting up WoW.

Computer saves some % of CPU time for background applications. Having the WMP running in background changes the thing - it allows all the remaining CPU time to be used by WoW therefore increasing its permormance.

Works fine for most of people i've spoken with.

    Only works for dual-core processors.

Yeah I doubt that. Nice fluff though.

True but it does work and here is why:

Last patch WoWs threading was changed which resulted in general in a slight net loss in performance.

What WMP does is act as an 'overlay' because it inherently (for some reason) uses some of the same memory allocations as WOW. This allows for these allocations to be threaded as they where pre-patch, as a result increasing performance.

So really unless you noticed a performance hit between the last patch and now you won't notice the difference (ala your specific computer configuration is not affected by these changes).

So it does work but it's nothing new or special really.

I have tried this last night and i did not notice any diference at all.
The loading times were shorter, but any application that is closed and then loaded again usually runs faster, common sense i think.

I checked fps before and after WMP was running... same 22 fps.

    I own a AMD2100+ 1024DDR GEF3TI500 64DDR (low-end pc).

Glad that it works for somebody.
