Sure you can do it that way..
Or you could have tried this.

99.9% of you will have ubuntu dual booted with windows, and will have wow running on windows the way you like it, with your addons and watever.

To play wow on ubuntu follow these complicated steps

1) Start ubuntu and install wine, (if you can't do that please do not start ubuntu again)
2) browse to your windows drive and click on wow.exe
3) start playing wow
