Progress through login queues while at work

Hello,

I'm on a huge server and I just can't play when I come back from work because the queue is like 3000 people, but I figured out a way to progress through this queue while at work, here's how :

We're going to use LogMeIn, a tool that allows you to access to your PC through a webbrowser or a smartphone, and use this to launch the login while at work.

What you'll need :
1 - You need to let your home PC turned on while at work,
2 - You need a smartphone or the ability to install programs on your work computer

How it works :
1 - Create an account here : https://secure.logmein.com/ (choose Professional license, their's a free 14 days trial without any credit card or anything needed)
2 - Download the client
3 - Follow the instructions on how to connect to your PC using either your smartphone or a webbrowser
4 - While at work, connect to your home PC, and launch the login queue
5 - Come back from work, you don't have to wait for the queue

EDIT : You can also use https://www.teamviewer.com instead of LogMeIn as mentionned in the replies. It's a full time free service, but it can only be used from smartphone or desktop app, not by web browser.

Good tutorial but how do you guess the time it will take in queue? If you get in before you are back from work it may dc you back after being idle a while.

Well yeah, but you just have to move a bit once every 15 minutes, so if you're not too far from your home you'll be okay.

Wouldnt teamviewer (which is free for personal use) be better? Works for smartphones too

Well yeah, it's working too, but I wanted to be able to monitor it through my webbrowser, without installing any app on my computer, that's why I used this one. But yeah, I'll add it to the post.

Not sure if this is at all helpful [@ chronux] but when I don't want to get DC'd, I have AutoHotKey spam a macro as this counts as an action (just like jumping, etc.). I default to a variant of the one I used when I was camping Aeonaxx but I think any macro will work. I used it prior to the expansion launch so I could catch some Zs while waiting for the start time and so I wouldn't have to sit in queue. More details on the whole setup are here (see 04. Macros):

It looks like the author removed the part about setting up AHK; he used to have it on a "hidden" page but I don't remember the address.


EDIT: I assume it's self-explanatory but obviously, this will break and the file will need to be relaunched if you get DC'd owing to the server instability.

In my experience, Google Remote Desktop is much easier to setup and works with less input lag. It just installs as a chrome desktop extension If you have an android phone or tablet there's an official Google app for it.

There's a portable version aswell :-)

Chrome Remote Desktop is free, simple, can be used on mobile devices and is perfect for this task.
