How to farm Aeonaxx

Aeonaxx is a rare spawn in Deepholm, that has 100 % chance to drop the mount Reins of the Phosphorescent Stone Drake.
He is pretty much the Time-Lost Proto-drake of Cataclysm, and could spawn as rare as only once per week.
The best strategy for farming him is simply to find a good spot and camp there until he spawns.
It could take hours, days or even weeks, but eventually you’ll get him.
He has 6 different spawn points, and you could pick anyone you want. If someone else is already camping your preferred spawn point, just go to the next.
Two people at the same place is only gonna reduce the chance for you to get it.



The red dots on the map above is his spawn points, and you can camp at any of these.
I prefer the one in the middle, so that I have the highest chance of my NPC scan picking him up. Speaking of NPC Scan, get it!
It’s just stupid to farm him without it, as someone with the add-on will grab him before you! It goes of once he is in range of the scan, most likely much earlier then you can see him.
Make sure to add “NPC ID 50062″ to the add-on, since that is the correct ID for Aeonaxx.
You should also make sure you can hear the add-on even when you’re not visually camping the screen.
This can be done by going to System -> Sound and check the box “Sound in Background”.
Now uncheck the “Enable Sound” box unless you want to constantly hear the game sounds. Next step is to go to Interface -> Addons -> NPC Scan and box the “Unmute for alert sound”.
This will make the sound play even if you have disabled it from the Sound menu, so that you can hear the alert anyway!

Now you can just go AFK, as long as you are sure you hear the alert if it goes off. Contrary to most mobs, Aeonaxx is actually friendly, and the fight must be started by mounting him. This is simply done by right clicking on him, much like a vehicle or a 2-man mount.
The fight is very easy at level 90, and you can either DPS him down, or focus on the adds.
You’ll get him anyway, so don’t worry!
Once he’s dead, you’ll be dropped off, but get a parachute.
Once you’ve landed, go loot him for your brand new mount!

Another good strategy for farming him: Make use of OQueue and OpenRaid to get invited to dead realms. Once you’re on their realm, make a patrol around Deepholm and look for him, and just leave the party if he’s not there.

Q&A: 1) Some people claim you won’t see him if you’re phased, but the truth is that he shows up anyway, so phasing won’t affect you in any way

Get an anti-afk bot.
Go to sleep with your speakers on.
Wake up from sound, get drake, go back to sleep
