The pet masters in Hyjal and Twilight highlands are also worth a visit, their pets are level 25 and offer a couple thousand experience for your leveling pets when they are defeated. Unfortunately they don't offer satchels. However I recently added them to my list of dailies to do and upped the numbers of level 25s I can level up per day by doing so.

They are a quick trip from the portals in Ogrimmar or Stormwind, especially since you can take those same portals back to your capital city.

Ideally you want a rare P/P emerald whelp. It makes a huge difference because the shield and heals are bigger, not to mention the damage. I would recommend picking up the addon "Battle Pet BreedID" which will identify the one you want. Then just use a stone to upgrade it.

I can't really expand more on what KMD said, he was spot on. The BEST thing to do if you're really that interested is to pop to Warcraftpets.com and have a read of the extensive knowledge base regarding breeds and they even have an awesome sliding calculator so you can easily find out which breed of pet you most want.

Aha, thanks. I'm just recently getting into battle pets. Found a rare Emerald Whelpling after a few hours of logging in every 30 minutes for respawns, but I'll check up the breed stuffs when I get home tomorrrow.

Also, the best way to get satchels is to just do all the daily trainers, right?

Yup, do them every day and you won't ever have to worry about finding that rare pet either, you'll have so many battle stones, you won't know what to do with them!

Engage the packs of level 22-23 Dragonblight Condors and back out immediately if you feel you can't take the adds. You want a group with 1-2 Poor or Common quality pets and preferably 2 Flying pets (your Arcane Eyes do bonus damage to Flying types). Capture at least 2 Uncommon or better Dragonblight Condors in this way before moving on to the next step (you can leave the third slot as an Arcane Eye to deal with Flying types if you wish). Remember you can use the nearby Stable Master at Wrymrest Temple for easy healing.
This is impossible. I spent a few hours going through all the Dragonblight Condors around Dragonblight with 3 level 17 Uncommon Arcane Eyes, but I couldn't find a single group with flying types in it. All the groups were Dragonblight Condor + critter + aquatic. ALL OF THEM! I managed to trap a few uncommon Condors but I couldn't win any fight, so I didn't get any of them.

    Help please.
