    Morchok 25-man Heroic

    Morchok 25-man Heroic
    This guide is for the Dragon Soul encounter Morchok in heroic difficulty.

    Abilities
    Phase One
    Stomp
    Splits 2000000 damage between all targets within 25 yards. The two targets closest to Morchok take a double portion of the damage. This also leaves a debuff causing you to take 100% additional physical damage for the next 10 seconds.


    Resonating Crystal
    Morchok conjures and explosive crystal onto the battlefield that explodes after 12 seconds for massive Shadow damage. The explosion splits the damage between 7 players. The total damage inflicted increases depending on the distance of each player from the crystal.


    Furious
    At 20% remaining health, Morchok becomes furious and increases his attack speed by 30% and the damage he inflicts by 20%.


    Phase Two
    Earthen Vortex
    Morchok uses the power of the earth to draw all players to him, inflicting 5% of their total health as Physical damage every second for 5 seconds. While the power of the earth draws the players to him, Morchok also summons Earth’s Vengence.


    Falling Fragments
    Shards of Earth’s Vengeance erupt from the ground, inflicting 15,000 Physical damage in 25 man to players within 2 yards. These shards temporarily stay on the ground acting as obstacles.


    Black Blood of the Earth
    Morchok causes the Black Blood of the Earth to erupt outwards from him, influcting 5,000 Nature damage in 10 and 25 man to players and increases Nature damage taken by 100% every second while a players is standing in the blood. This effect can stack up to 20 times.

    Besides these "normal" abilities he will also spawn his twin, Kochrom after you have shaved off 10% of his health. Kochrom have the same abilities as Morchok with the difference that he casts them a few seconds later. Because of the debuff left after the stomp it is impossible for you to tank these on top of each other. Instead you will have to treat them as two separate encounters. Which leads us to our setup.

    Raidsetup
    Tanks: 2
    Healers: 8
    Range DPS: 6-10~
    Melee DPS: 6-10~

    The Encounter
    The pull:
    You will engage Morchok as on normal difficulty where he stands. Everyone will want to move within 25-yards range as he will cast one stomp before he splits. After 10% he will split. Kochrom will spawn a little further up the hill than Morchok. Since the stomp and debuff application is within 25-yards range you will want to place them with at least that distance between them. Placing pillars a few yards outside of each side of the road should provide a good idea of where you should place them.

    See the image below for an illustration. It is important that everyone who are meant to be on the Morchok side follows him and are within 25-yards while he is being positioned. A good idea is to place the two separate groups of 12 and 13 people on each side of the road before you pull so that they can quickly get into position after he splits.




    Phase 1:

    During phase one Morchok and Kohcrom will use stomp at different timings. The best way to deal with the stomp, since it does 100% physical damage to the two closest targets, is to have the tank and a rogue stand on top of the boss and the other melee on max melee range. The rogue will then feint before the stomp taking significantly less damage. After the split they will use stomp once and then use Resonating Crystal.

    At this point it is best if all range move together to the crystal. If you position yourself as shown above the crystals will spawn to the north of the range camps as they seem to always spawn north of Morchok and Kohcrom. It will then be easy for the range to position themselves close to the crystal. When the range camp move the tank might also have to move Morchok or Kohcrom close to the range to make sure that they are within 25 yards range of the boss so that the damage isn't split on fewer persons.




    Phase 2:
    After the first resonating crystal he will use Earthen Vortex, drag everyone within 25-yards to him while casting Falling Fragments. After this is done he will cast Black Blood of the Earth that will travel out from him. It is a good idea for a druid to use Roar of Courage at this time to increase the movement speed of the raid. Run and hind behind the fragments that spawn around him. Make sure to not hug them as the blood will go through them by just a little bit. After this is cast it is back to Phase 1.


    Phase 1(again):
    After phase 2 ends it is back to phase 1. It is important that everyone positions themselves as before the transition to ensure you have the range camp closest to the crystal spawn as well as making it easier for healers. This time around it will last slightly longer. He will cast Stomp more times and he will also spawn the Resonating Crystal twice with a stomp inbetween. For the second resonating crystal you will have a stomp at rougly the same time as it blows up. It is a good idea to use raid saves at this time, such as Barrier or Auramastery. But besides that there is nothing new. Just make sure to keep everyone alive so that the damage is split evenly.


    This is it after this it is just rinse and repeat, I realise it might not be the best guide out there but it might provide some insight or help to guilds progressing on him. If you have any questions feel free to ask below. I will also post a video link to my guild killing him with this tactic as soon as it is up :-). Gonna try and pretty the guide up a bit later on.

    pretty solid and easily comprehendable, so people who're troubling on morchok HC should read this.
