How to make "potentially" HUGE gold in patch 4.3 and beyond off a Hallowpet.

So, right now, in the 4.3 PTR, the pet from Hallow's End "Sinister Squashling" is BOE. That's right... currenty it is BOP in the game, but come next patch, the item becomes BOE. Of course, since Hallow's End is ending in just a few days, it will be long over by the time 4.3 arrives, so this seems like it wouldn't apply right? Well, it's simple, if you have already earned the item, you can still have one in your bags, either from HH loot-filled pumpkin, or from buying with the treats. So, if you have a lot of alts, you can easily collect at least 1 sinister squashling on each alt, let it sit in your bags in 4.3, and BAM, you will be the only one selling these pets.

This could possibly make you some solid cash as it is likely VERY few if at all on your server will have any of these pets at all until the next hallow's end. And, with the new in-game pokemon battles of Mists of Panderia, this could be a great sell to an impatient collector.

IMO, save some, hold on to them. Maybe you could put 1 up in the AH at a high price just in-case someone is willing to buy.

Anyway, the fortunate thing about this is there is NO COST TO YOU other than the time to get the pets, or the random loot, so if Blizz changes their mind and makes it BOP again, at least you tried. That is unlike the once BOE pet from ZG that blizz was going to get rid of and many of us all bought up like crazy and then last minute blizz adds it back into the game and we all lost some cash haha.

Anyway, good luck, and let's hope these stay BOE. I already have the pet sitting on 4 toons.

if the item is currently flagged as soulbound in your inventory, what makes you think it will become unbound with the patch? wouldn't only newly acquired instances of the item be boe? of course you can't know for certain until the patch is out but in my mind that is how i think it would work.

Save all of your loot-filled pumpkins until after the event ends before you open them, or are they removed once the event is over?

They are "Requires Hallow's End" items, so you can't open them after Hallow's End.

This is actually a pretty good point. Though, I DO remember in the past having a couple BOP items that went BOE in my inventory before.. years back.

Only way to know 100% for certain is to get a pet into your inventory, and then copy your character over to the PTR and see what happens. Once I get my next pet drop I'll let you know what happens.

Until then, I'd still say hold on to them for now.

Copied my character to the PTR with a Sinister Squashling in the bags. It was soulbound when I transfered it but not soulbound when it arrived on the PTR. I guess this confirms this working as much as possible before 4.3.

I do not belive this will work... The pet you receive in you bag once you loot it WILL become soulbound, and i seriously doubt that it will turn to a BoE just like that. But if you keep it in the daily reward pumpkin and loot it once the patch is live it might work!

What we've gone through in this thread so far is that:
- Loot-filled Pumpkin requires Hallows End to work, unlikely to be lootable ore even still even in your inventory after Hallows End
- Soulbound Sinister Squashlings that you have in your inventory become unbound when you transfer to the PTR, this indicates already soulbound Sinister Squashlings will become unbound once 4.3 hits too, but there is of course no definite way of confirming this.

We'll find out in a month or so, until then - I'll stack up on as many as I can. It requires close to no effort and can potentially net a lot of gold.
