Play WoW with your Xbox 360 Controller.

This guide will show you how to play WoW and other games with your Xbox 360 Wireless or wired controller. Requested by Navarium because the other guides didn't explain this very well.

I've been doing this for some time and it's heaven when you level a new character and farming dungeons.

First off, you need one of these. If you don't have one, you can get one for around 10€ on ebay. They're called Xbox 360 wireless reciever.

    1. Go toSoftware Downloads | Microsoft HardwareClick on Gaming and then Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows.

    2. When you've installed the driver you might have to update the driver manualy for it to work.

    Right click on Computer
    Go to Properties
    Click on Device Manager
    Go to Other Devices
Right click on the Unidentified Device
    Go to Properties
    Go to the Drive tab
    Click on Update Driver
Browse my computer for driver software
Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class
Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows
    Update Driver Warning
    Click Yes

    3. Press the ))) ir button on the controller and the reciever to link them together. (The button is located next to the charger input on the controller)

    4. Now you need a program to bind keys on your controller. I'm using Xpadder 5.7
    Download: -Snip-

    5. Now we're almost done. Click the xbox controller icon in the top left corner to make a new profile.
This is the setup I'm using.

    Enjoy.

I remember reading about some software that was being designed back in BC days specifically for playing with an xbox controller. Can't remember the name of it but this seems to work just the same.

Still do this myself with a wired controller ^.^. I use it for doing my dailies and such. Makes them much less boring and repetitive.

Aye. I hooked up my comp to the tv. Laying in bed levling feels so much better than sitting in a uncomfy chair.

Switchblade. they went to a Full pay framework. during wrath and i cant get there site to load anymore, so they might be gone now.

    Xpadder should work fine though.
the nice thing about Switchblade was Function keys, so you could set the bumpers to Function1 and Function2 and X+F2 was different than X+F1 or X

i used to raid and do dailies and such as a warlock like this. i wouldnt suggest trying to pvp or tank or heal or anyhting complicated with it, but its great for braindead farming, DPSing or dailies.

I'm healing fine in hcs with this too. Randoms even say I'm better than the avarage healer. I would not like to see the avarage healer.

I have tried to use switchblade before, but I couldn't get it to work on W7 64.

    Win!

Btw, i've seen a UI addon for Xbox controllers so you have a pretty nice looking xbox controller on bottom of screen isntead of blizz ui, i think it added spell icons on the buttons too, im not sure tho

I've done this as well with my PS3 controller, xPadder and a few different macros! And it works pretty well, the camera, the movement..but it's only good enough for leveling and not anything else! :/

I made a post with the same thing almost, but with a guitar hero controller, it's really fun with a mage

Here's a link (Not Be Bored/Be A Bard *Mage Required!*)
