Scarlet Monastery Cathedral Guide

Okay, so I've ran SM about 30 times now, so I know every instance inside out (Except perhaps the Graveyard...)

Basic grouping guides, get a Tank, off-Tank, DPS, Healer, and Caster. In short, get a Warrior, Warrior/Pally, Rogue/Hunter, Priest/Pally/Druid, Lock/Mage/Druid. Lock's and Mage's are the most preferred because of their Polymorph and Soulstone. On my server I've found that druids are strangely rare for SM. Good levels for Cathedral are 36-43, At 43 I started doing Zul'Farrak, but that is upon speculation.

First off, I cannot stress how important it is everybody has a hour and a half to two hours of free time. Cathedral is (Duh) the hardest SM instance, and pulling from inside the Chapel can take a while, especially if one tiny thing happens, which will be explained later. After you've gathered everybody, head in into the instance, buff up, explain raid icons (As in, for example, moon = to sheep that mob.), then start clearing the first corridor. Packed with melee and casters, mage's are useful here for Polymorphing stuff. Clear the entire room until you reach the doorway.

This is a slight part where your group makes a decision, you could either

A. Clear the side corridors, then head up one of the two staircases

B. Make sure no patrols are in front of it, then head to the fountain, and clear a staircase.

B seems to be the most common, but sometimes people will combine A and B together, they will clear a few mobs first then head up, anyways, you should be in the upper fountain, facing the large doorway, with two more side corridors. If you came here for EXP, clear both corridors, then take out the four guards by the door in twos. After that, have somebody open the door with The Scarlet Key, and here is the area that wipes most groups.

Lots of mobs are in front, and in the corridors, in front of Mograine, one of the two end bosses. If a fleeing mob reaches Mograine's aggro range, you're dead. No escape, the ENTIRE cathedral attacks you. Make sure that doesn't happen. Have either your tank or caster pull mobs by groups of twos and threes, hopefully your tank has a ranged weapon by now, if they don't have one, /sigh at them and use a caster. After you've cleared about halfway up the main corridor and a bit of the side, move a bit into the room. Before this, your tank/caster should of been pulling the mobs outside, and you should keep a sharp eye out for outside patrols if you didn't clear the side corridors.

After you've cleared the main and side corridors, go either left or right. Right leads to a group of enemies and a single enemy praying. After taking them out, don't leave yet! There is a clickable torch left of the altar in the room, which will reveal High Inquisitor Fairbanks. Doesn't look like Whitemane got in through democracy. He is a 40 caster, and his loot is okay, one leather, cloth, and mail item. After that, head to the left side, making sure not to aggro Mograine, taking out the group of enemies. No named boss this name, instead having two rooms full of mobs.

Okay, you're all done with the mobs, now for Mograine. Any buffs you have should be about to or already have worn off, so rebuff and get your casters some mana, and gather in front of Mograine. Your tanks should Charge him, and take him out. He is a 42 elite Paladin, so watch out when he casts his shield. After he is dead, his corpse is unlootable. No, its not a bug, and no, its not 'teh h4ckz0rz'. The door directly in front of the altar will open, and High Inquisitor Whitemane will come in. She IS a priest, so the first person she see's will get Holy Smite'd.

About when she has 2/3 of her health bar depleted, she'll cast a AoE spell thats unresistible. She'll run over to Mograine, and, unfortunatly, revive him. She'll also give herself full health, and now you can /yell your complaints. Take out Whitemane first (Duh, copy the mobs, kill the priest), and when she's gone, take out Mograine one last time. If he used the shield before, he won't use it again. After the battle, get the spoils (And, to you Warriors, if Triune Amulet drops, don't freakin' need it.. Like a warrior needs what a priest drops.)

Congratulations! You have cleared Scarlest Monastery Cathedral! For those hearthing out, head off with the loot. For those with no hearthstone or one still recharging, you'd better run fast and use any Stunning spells, the beginning mobs have likely respawns.
