Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "/Applications/World of Warcraft/Data/enUS/backup-enUS.MPQ". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at /--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The data being read was "Data/enUS/Credits_LK.html", and the error code was 8.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)

    Help?
If the xalupadas's advice doesn't work for you, you could also simply delete the "backup-enUS.MPQ" file. Not sure if changing your folder name is necessary, but mine was set as "Wow". But if you get this error for the enGB version, the same thing applies. Delete the backup.

The patch 3.3.3a to 3.3.5 in the OP's post is the same as 3.3.5 to 3.3.5a and won't work. Here is the real 3.3.3a to 3.3.5 patch, use this and then 3.3.5 to 3.3.5a World of Warcraft Manual Patch 3.3.3a to 3.3.5 - US/Aus Download - Shacknews.com - Video Game News, Trailers, Game Videos, and Files

Also, an easier way of doing this is simply rename your official WoW folder, and then install this. That way you don't have to uninstall your first version of WoW. Just remember to update any shortcuts you have.

    Downloading WoTLK

    3. Install WotLK, make sure you don't let it autopatch.
    4. Start patching from 3.2

This will save you around half of the patches.
Ps. if you want a 2nd copy so you can keep playing retail, make sure you delete (but backup!) the registry files of the retail version.
Ps2: should be in Emulator guides I'd say.
How do I install WoTLK off the community site?

Afro i believe that data is now out of date due to blizzard moving the worldofwarcraft site over to there battle net adress. you'll have to either aquire the WOLK cd through some other means or site, or do it the way discribed in the opening post.

    edit: welcome to (mm)owned(core)

    Alright thanks

---------- Post added at 11:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 PM ----------

Hey, every time I install WoTLK it gets to 496 MB's and then says this: "The installer was unable to read the file "/Users/michaelschwilling/.Trash/World of Warcraft/Data/enUS/locale-enUS.MPQ". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at /--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The data being read was "MPQs-2/LichKing common/unconditional/Data#lichking.MPQ/World/Expansion02/Doodads/Nexus/Alpha.blp", and the error code was 8.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)"

I use a Mac and i've re-downloaded the installer like 3 or 4 times and every time the same thing at the same time happens! Help! please!!!:P
