Yeah you can definitely flip those for a couple of thousand gold profit. Even if it takes a little while to sell. Buy for 400g and put them up for at LEAST 2,000g.

You had to buy them when they were on a vendor, they are no longer on it though

As others said, they used to be sold from a vendor in Shattrath named Haris Pilton (Same npc that sells the big bags etc). They for some reason decided to stop selling them even though they are a really cool looking item. That is why they are so rare. There is high demand and very very limited supply.

I just made 12'500g of the 2 i had on my alt. Shame it was on a different server then my main. But i also started asking around in trade if someone had any, and would'nt you know. Got one more for 600g at my main. Conclusion, epic find (atleast for those of us who got lucky. Unlike the HH exploit...)

The reason they were so expensive is that it's supposed to mimic how fashion fads work. One day they are really expensive (2000g), the next day (or patch) they are cheap (5c), and before you know it they are gone.

Very clever of Blizzard IMO.

I had a buddy write an Econ paper on the WoW economy and he included this. Prof loved it.
