Reduce the size of your World of Warcraft folder!

    Hello Guys!

I have decided to repost this guide as I fell it may benifit many people.

Step One : Open up your would of Warcraft Directory ( by default it will be C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/ )
Step two : once in, Look for all files that look like the ones in the picture below ( Do NOT delete Downloader or Updater, They are what WoW uses to patch )

Step 3 : Highlight all the files and hit delete ( Also, Select the two folders highlighed below )

Step 4 : Go to your recycle bin and hit " Empty "
Step 5 : Dance around the room because you just saved yourself 6GB worth of space!

Although if you donwload the patches externally this wont fix much, and the cache returns after you launch the client as this is how you see items that you have already viewed, although a good guide.

I believe that your cache folder comes back every time you run WoW

Another thing you can do that not many know is that you can have clean install of just wotlk instead of vanilla, tbc, then wotlk

You can delete the folders "Updates", "Errors", and "Logs" aswell. If you want you can go and delete "WDB" and "WTF" too. WDB will restore itself though, and all your settings and addons will reset if you delete WTF - WTF will be restored aswell, but the files in it will be alot fewer (since the files in it are created when you log in to different characters. If you delete it and only play on one character for example, you wont have all the files from all your alts there which you dont play anyway).

But all this is pretty common sense really.

Nice guide. I do this every time a major patch is released. The only drawback is if you ever have to repair your WoW(so far I have never had to), you have to re-download all the patches needed to fix WoW.

So I took your advice and danced around in the room, I fell and broke my leg. You can expect hearing from my lawyers in the upcoming week.
