    Higher fps guide

    This is how you increase your fps in world of warcraft.
    Requirements:
    1. Notepad
    2. World of Warcraft (lol?)
    3. A brain of level 1 (ha?)

    Procedures:
    1. Open up notepad.
    2. Copy and paste the following:

    @echo off
    cd /d "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft"
    start /high WoW.exe

    3. The default is up ^. If that is not where your wow folder / wow.exe is located then:

    @echo off
    cd /d "FOLDER PATH"
    start /high NAME.exe

    4. File > Save as > WoW.bat
    5. Move WoW.bat to your WoW folder (where the WoW.exe is located).
    6. Always open WoW with the WoW.bat that you have created!
    7. Start game and go to Video Options.
    8. Turn off Vertical Sync.
    9. Press the "enter" key and copy and paste (or type it):

    /console MaxFPS 400

    10. Ctrl + r (if not binded) and check FPS to see if it improved!

    Information:
    1. /high puts WoW on high priority.

    If that starts to lag your other programs try rebooting your comp or making a ram clean up as so
    1. Open up Notepad.
    2. Copy and Paste the following:

    FreeMem=space(64000000)

    3. Save as RamCleaner.vbs
    4. Double click RamCleaner.vbs and that's it!
    5. Go back to playing WoW!1

    Or
    1. Go to your WoW directory
    2. Find your Cache and Wtf fodlers
    3. Right click and rename them to Wtf.old and Cache.old

    Found this on MMOWNED it's similar but not the same imo.
    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-gu...look-here.html

    If this is a repost im sorry I know theres several ways to search but I have tried to search and couldnt find anything similar in the past year.

    Easier setting up high priority:

    Start WoW normally,
    minimize to desktop,
    Ctrl+Alt+Del,
    Right click on wow.exe and set up priority on High.

    "Freemem space" 'improvement' is a myth. Does not work. Has no impact on performance.

    Also, why are you turning off vsync and increasing the max FPS to 400? 60 fps is already above what your eye can see, but people usually want 60 fps because even though 30 is enough for your eye to see it as fluid, the frames sometimes land at times where your eye has not observed them, and it therefore seems a little less fluid. 60 fps completely avoids this. Not to mention that if you have a 60 hz monitor (used by just about everyone, unless you are in Europe where you might be running 50hz) then you wont see more than that anyway. The video card and game will be physically sending lets say 400 frames per second to the monitor, but it will only refresh the images at 60 (or 50) frames per second. And all that extra power you are drawing is only good for screen shots to show off.

    So next time writing a guide:

    Please be sure what you are copying-pasta.

    turning off vsync indeed improves performance a little. ( i'm sure, at least in my case)

    That is the difference between 24 and 60. Not 30 and 60, a huge difference. As a matter of fact, adding the extra 6 on top of the 24 would be a 25% boost in frames. As I already said, some people can still pick out the difference between even 30 and 60, all depends on the person. However, anything above 60 is lost, which is my point. Setting max FPS to 400 is useless. Setting it above 60 at all is useless, as your monitor wont even refresh it unless you have settings to boost the hertz, and even then, your eye wont notice.

    Also, by turning off vsync, you run the risk of screen tearing, which is the whole point of vsync to begin with. So, if you have vsync on, and it holds steady at 60, there is nothing to do with FPS that you can do to make anything more smooth.

    Most people can easily see the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps of animation that has no motion blur. Movies appear more or less fluid at 24fps (cinema) or 30fps (NTSC) because each frame has an exposure time which means that a single frame conveys the illusion of motion. The exposure time of a rendered frame in a video game is zero. That's why 24 and even 30 fps in a game won't look fluid.

    How many frames per second can the human eye see?

    That's 100% correct of course.

    Stans dad - get off my nuts you have posted in every single one of the last two pages post saying its repost from other forums, well it's not from MMOwned now is it. Regardless of where it came from I put it here thinking it would help MMOwned I have never seen it on MMOchampion anyways. Just by comparing it looks similar to certain things in the post but not all of it.

    Other posts to help you understand with low end graphics cards that this will more or less work on the best vsync is rarely helpful with the extremely low Fps you would be getting 10-20 fps at the most which the guide is directed toward. You all are absolutely correct 60FPS is the most you need. Although with pushing the fps to 60+ give the computers fps more room for error imo so it doesnt stay in low FPS it goes from high FPS to low fps and stops you from being limited to 60fps.

    I've had some experience with the High Priority setting earlier, and just as a tip for those who are gonna try this, be aware that your comp might overload if you're running other processes in the background. Happened to me, and can end in a blue screen if you're unlucky.

    I understand your reasoning here, but it is flawed. It seems logical that if the roof is 60fps, that any sort of "hiccup" would drop the fps down from the roof. However, it doesnt work that way. If it drops below 60 because of something, it would have done it even if the max was 1000fps. The computer does not scale itself down, and then need some time to catch up when it gets flooded, ending in lulls of performance.

    Still nice to know for some. I would just avoid raising the max fps because it will tax you system badly, and cause excess heat and power usage, as well as shorten the life of your components. By raising the max that high, you are basically telling your cpu and video card to go nuts, and keep yourself at 100% usage at all times. Never a good thing, especially when it is not giving you any benefit.
