The existing Shadowmourne guide seems somewhat... bare-boned... so I decided to write a slightly more in-depth one for you lovely people's enjoyment
CHAIN REQUIREMENT: Ashen Verdict Friendly.
The Sacred and the Corrupt
This is the first step, and is basically here to filter out time-wasters and those not committed. It requires the following:
25 Primordial Saronite
This is the new Orb, and will most likely be bought with Emblems of Frost and dropped of Icecrown bosses, similar to the current orbs. This means that it will either require guild cooperation - and the holding off of crafting armor for guildies for a little bit - or a RIDICULOUSLY huge gold sink, 25k at an ABSOLUTE minimum in the first few weeks, probably more. So yeah, no time wasters.
Light's Vengeance
Basically, when you go in the Frostmourne Cave (in Dragonblight - remember, the place with shadow Revenants? [74.3, 23.7], northeast DB) to grab Light's Vengeance, the Lich King shows up and taunts you that you really thought it would be that easy, fills the cave (seriously, theres TONNES of them packed in) with weak zombies (not CoS weak, but weaker than basic NR mobs) and a shielded, elite Vrykul in the middle who will resummon any dead zombies. Light's Vengeance will be thrown to the side, and it takes 8 seconds to loot it - WITHOUT BEING HIT. Use whatever tricks you can - bubble, AotD, whatever, to keep the zombies away from you while you loot it. After this, it flys up in a big bubble of light and flys around the room, spitting balls of light to smash the zombies, before finally nuking the Vrykul and dropping down. Now loot it and claim your prize!...
Or not. 10 seconds ago was merely a setback, and the Vrykul comes back as an elite skeleton! Hes not really all that tough to be honest, if you're in the position to get this weapon you can kill him - just don't pick up that hammer with 100hp left or you'll scream! After this, there is FINALLY nothing left and you can claim your prize
Festergut's Acidic Blood
Rotface's Acidic Blood
Kill these bosses in 25-man Icecrown, loot them. Easy... compared to what cmes later, especially!
Grats, you just got Shadow's Edge!
A Feast of Souls
Kill 1000 mobs in the Icecrown Citidel raid. This can be done on 25-man (yay!), but... big task. If there are any large AOE packs inside, it might be worth it to get to and farm them, otherwise this is going to be a long task - soft reset the instance if you want to speed it up, but this is a long grind however you cut it. Did I mention no time wasters?
And now, we get into the MAN'S raiding quests!
Unholy Infusion
Professor Putricide is a boss accessable after you kill Festergut and Rotface - remember, the two childish abominations you killed and drained the blood of earlier? Well, you're fighting him 25-man. I'm not 100% sure what to do here, so here are my 2 guesses:
1: (unlikely) Stand in the big slime puddles. Yawn, this seems somewhat boring so I doubt it.
2: (more likely) Eat from the table marked EAT ME in the encounter, turning into a large Festergut-style abomiation, and gaining the following skill:
# Eat Ooze — Eats nearby Mutated Slime decreasing the size of the pool, giving you 4 Ooze energy! (40 yards range. Instant)
I'm guessing it is something to do with this - possibly fill your Ooze energy bar to 100%.
Blood Infusion
First, get to Blood-Queen Lana'thel. Now, stand near the tank to get blood mirror, and survive getting hit for every bit of damage the queen is hit for. Now, get bitten by her, which will eventually get you to a Frenzied stage and finally make your damn vampire axe happy. Now, kill the boss. Easy(ish)!
Frost Infusion
Sindragosa - Sapphiron's big sister.
# Frost Breath — Inflicts 37,000 to 43,000 Frost damage to enemies in a 60 yards cone in front of the caster. In addition, the targets' attack speed and chance to dodge are decreased by 50% for 6 seconds.
You have to stand in front of the boss and get hit by this 4 times. And then kill her. Preferably WITHOUT being hit by
# Cleave — Inflicts normal damage plus 50 to an enemy and its nearest allies, affecting up to 10 targets.
so make sure you time running out in front of the massive dragon. Frost resist + stamina gear is your best friend here, and make sure your raid can pretty much 24-man the boss before you do this if you want the best possible chance of surviving and doing it - remember, she has a frost damage aura just like Sapphiron, you're unlikely to be on completely 100%!
The Splintered Throne
Get 60 Shadowfrost Shards. They drop off bosses in Icecrown 25. Judging by the amount of stuff you have to go through and the fact you need SIXTY, I'd guess they are 100 or near-100% drop rate... Or possibly 100% from hard mode and less from normal?I'm not 100%, noone has done this quest.
And now you get an upgrade to Shadow's Edge!. WOO LEGENDARY!
The Lich King's Last Stand
But its not over - you still need to kil the Lich King if you haven't already. And at current you get the almighty reward of... 33g! woo! ... yeah... This might have some non-obvious bonus to it.
So, in total, you get around 200g and an axe which vendors for a whopping 50g (and has some nice stats...). I hope this guide helped!![]()
