    The Undying

Hey, I haven't given anything to this site in a long time, and I felt that now I should. This guide is not copy pasted from any site and it was written completely by me. This guide is probably more focused on pugging this, but it would work for a guild run just as well. This guide is good for 10 man version only, the boss fights are the same, and some of the principles, the damage that a boss's abilities do changes though. Many thanks to wowhead! But anyways, here is the guide!

    Part 1:Tips and Tricks

What the heck is "The Undying"?

The Undying - Achievement - World of Warcraft is an achievment that involves fully clearing Naxxramas within one raid lockout period and having no raid member die during any boss fight. At first this may seem impossible or extremely hard, but here are a few tips while doing it.

    Tips:

-A huge part of this achievment is pressure, if you are leading a raid, don't say "If you die you suck and you shouldn't play WoW at all." Say something like "Try your best and try not to mess up." Saying that will get rid of much of the pressure and tension.

-Use ventrillo or something of the sort because of coordination. (Pretty obvious.)

-When you are recruiting people, have them link their The Fall of Naxxramas (10 player) - Achievement - World of Warcraft or 25 player achievment. This shows that they acually have a clue at what they are doing.

-When deciding which wing of Naxxramas you should beat first, go with a hard one. Well not necessarily hard, but a wing where the most players die in. For example, The Plague Wing or Construct Quarter.

-During the run, you may forget that if a player dies on a trash mob it's ok and won't count towards the achievment. Don't freak out if a person does and disband the raid.

-Do a gear check, don't be crazy about it though. Getting players in the 2300+ gearscore range is always good, but this achievment requires more skill than gear.

-Before a boss fight, explain it again even if players already know what to do. It's better to be safe than sorry!

-Make sure when getting people you remember to have a couple classes that can decurse and as many buffing classes as possible. Make sure you have a shaman!

-Have flasks and potions. They will help a lot.

-Lastly, make sure everyone in the raid has Deadly Boss mods.

Those were the tips, if you have any questions or want to know something, feel free to post them in reply!

    Part 2: The Bosses

Note: I base the Quarter's difficulty mostly on how easy it is for a raid to mess up the achievment.

    The Plague Quarter

    Difficulty for a group: 3/5.

Summary: This Quarter is not very hard, it just has a fair amount of things that players can die on *cough* dancing *cough*. Overall, this wing is pretty easy, I would recommend doing this one first.

Noth The Plaguebringer: Noth the Plaguebringer - NPC - World of Warcraft

Perhaps the easiest fight in all of Naxxramas, Noth is extremely basic. The fight has 2 phases. The first phase is a tank and spank where Noth summons skeletons adds which don't hit for much damage. After a certain amount of time, Noth will teleport up to his little balcony, and focus on summoning skeletons. During phase 1, have the offtank pick them up and hold them by Noth. Have all the dps focus on Noth. Once Noth teleports (phase 2) aoe the skeletons down and have the tanks continue to pick them up. After that the cycle repeats.

    Tips:

-Have decursers get rid of the curse noth puts on the raid Curse of the Plaguebringer - Spell - World of Warcraft

-If you are a dps, don't pull the skeleton adds off the tank. You shouldn't really have to worry about that though considering you will be dpsing Noth for an entire phase.

Heigan the Unclean: Heigan the Unclean - NPC - World of Warcraft

Unclean he is, with slime erupting from the fissures in the ground similar to the Onyxia encounter with lava instead. This fight is a big area for messing up this achievment. It's an easy fight, with easy to make mistakes. There are 2 phases to this fight as well. The first phase involves all ranged dps and casters on the platform where Heigan is when you enter his room. All melee and the tank (have the Offtank dps for this fight if possible) will be "dancing" around the room while dpsing him. The room is divided up into 4 quarters. Heigan will make slime erupt from 3 of them, while 1 of them is safe. Your raid must keep moving into the safe areas and avoid being hit by the slime. Phase 2 has Heigan teleport back up to his platform and make the slime eruptions go at a much faster rate. At that point, all casters and melee must go to section one of the room (a.k.a. the spot where you enter it) and dance for your life! Phase 2 will end after a certain amount of time and Phase 1 will start again.

    Tips:

-Heigan will put a disease on your raid Decrepit Fever - Spell - World of Warcraft, make sure you cleanse it.

-Before you start the fight, pretend to simulate it. Mark one person as a symbol and pretend that they are the slime that is erupting. Have them start outside the room, and your raid in section 1 of Heigan's room. Wait 3 seconds or so, and have your raid move into section 2, while the person that is pretending to be the slime move into section 1. Essentially, the person person pretending to be the slime will always be behind your raid, and have them say if a person was too slow and got hit. You can also have a second slime person because there will also be slime erupting in front of your raid when dancing. Be creative!

    Loatheb:Loatheb - NPC - World of Warcraft

Who knew that walking fungus could be so dangerous? Loatheb is another easy fight and the last fight in the Plague Wing. If your group managed to get through Heigan without anyone getting killed, then your raid should have no sweat with Loatheb. Loatheb is an interesting fight. He has an aura that prevents healing. It is on a cycle of 20 seconds. For 17 seconds, no healing will be allowed, but for the remaining 3 seconds, healers will be allowed to heal, so make it count! Little things called spores will also spawn throughout the room. Have your offtank taunt them and bring them towards the raid, don't let them get to Loatheb though! Once a spore is killed, anyone near it will recieve +50% crit and cause no threat. You want everyone in your raid to have this except for the tank who is tanking Loatheb of course.

    Tips:

-Again, make sure everyone has the spore buff.

-Healers, be on your toes for the 3 second healing perioid. Also be wary of the Doom and Deathbloom debuff he casts on your raid. Inevitable Doom - Spell - World of Warcraft and Deathbloom - Spell - World of Warcraft.

-Don't use heroism at the start of the fight. Wait for everyone to have their spore buff. Heroism+50% crit=fun stuff.

    The Construct Quarter

    Difficulty for a group: 3/5

Summary: The hardest fights of this quarter at Gluth and Thaddius. Patchwerk is a gear check and Grobbulus just requires a little coordination.

    Patchwerk:Patchwerk - NPC - World of Warcraft

This fight is just a tank and spank, what more can I say? He has an ability called hateful strike that deals 27000 to 32000 damage to the person with the highest health in melee range. Have your offtank tank Patchwerk, and your main tank take the hateful strike hits. Hateful strike's damage is reduced by armor and it can be dodged blocked and parried. Patchwerk uses it every 1 second.

    Tips:

-Assign healers to a certain tank. There is easier healing through hateful strikes that way. Also be careful of Patchwerk's frenzy at 5% health.

-Tanks, just be careful. Not much to this fight haha.

Grobbulus: Grobbulus - NPC - World of Warcraft

If you thought the Plague Quarter had a lot of slime, think again! All of Grobby's attacks involve slime. The guy who is tanking him will have to tank and kite him around the room in a certain direction because of posion clouds that Grobbulus drops. Every time one drops, the tank should move him. Grobbulus will also inject a person with poison that'll deal about 8000 damage to the person and other people around him/her. Have a person cleanse the disease once the person with it is far enough away because a poison cloud will drop once it is cleansed. You will notice that Grobbulus does this more and more often as the fight goes on. His last ability is called "Slime Spray." It is a frontal cone type ability that will spawn a fallout slime for every person hit with it. It is crucial that everyone stands behind him except for the tank! Once a slime spawns, have the offtank pick it up and have dps switch to it. Keep doing this and Grobbulus will be down in no time!.

    Tips:

-Like I said earlier, cleansers should wait to cleanse the "Mutating Injection" until the person with it is far enough away.

-stand behind Grobbulus if you are not dpsing! Much of the fight is self-explanatory, but I'm just saying this again. Noone wants to die from a lot of slimes spawning and ruining the achievment run.

    Frogger:

Note: This is not a real boss fight...or is it?!

The hardest fight in Naxxramas. You must carefully dodge slimes that will explode upon contact. Have all your paladins bubble and run in to clear a path for your raid. All raids that come to this fight have a 33.3 repeating of course percent chance of survival. You have been warned!

    Tips:

    -There aren't any.

    Gluth:Gluth - NPC - World of Warcraft

Kel'thuzad's pet dog. What has he been feeding it anyway? Once you run through the poison tube to get to Gluth, have the main tank pick him/her/whatever sex the thing is up and bring him to the locked gate at the far end of the room. Gluth will apply a healing debuff to the tank who is tanking Gluth at that time. At every 3 stacks switch who is tanking. That is all the tanks have to do during the fight. Little zombies called "Zombie Chow" will spawn near the pipe that you jumped out of. If they reach Gluth, Gluth will eat it and heal for 5% of its total health, in other words, not good! You need a couple of kiting classes to kite the zombies around so they don't get too close to Gluth. The last thing Gluth does is called "Decimate." Everyone's health in the raid is reduced to 5% (Zombie Chow's health included.) At that point, all the zombies will run towards Gluth. All dps must then switch from Gluth to the zombies and kill them fast. Throughout the fight, Gluth will also gain a soft enrage causing him to attack 25% faster. Rogues and hunters can remove it.

    Tips:

-Have experienced kiters. Hunters are a perfect class to do this because of their frost traps. Frost mages are also pretty good at doing this.

-Healers be careful of the decimate and don't let the tanks die. Look at your dbm bar to see when it is coming, and get ready to do an aoe heal.

Thaddius: Thaddius - NPC - World of Warcraft

The fight begins with your raid splitting into 2 groups. One going to the left, and the other going to the right. There are 2 mini bosses that must be killed before you fight Thaddius. The mini bosses are a tank and spank fight that punt the tank to the other one every 30 seconds. After they are dead (within 5 seconds of each other), your raid must jump from the mini boss's platform onto the one Thaddius is on. Once there, Thaddius will become active any try to kill you. Every 30 seconds, Thaddius will cast Polarity Shift - Spell - World of Warcraft. Before the fight begins, decide which sides positive charged people should go on, and which side negatively charged people should go on. If a person with the opposite charge comes too close to a person, they will take a lot of damage. You will also gain a damage buff for being close to people charged the same as you.

    Tips:

-If a person does not make the jump onto Thaddius's platform, they will have to swim back up and jump again. They will wipe the raid however if they start dpsing right away. They HAVE to wait until Thaddius casts his polarity shift so they will get a charge. If you have no charge and you're standing next to a positively charged person, that counts as having a negative charge. Just remember to wait. This is a huge reason why people do not get this achievment.

-The two minibosses must die within 5 seconds of eachother, or else they will ressurect with full health. Communicate to each other if one side needs to slow down dps or not.

    The Millitary Quarter

    Difficulty for a raid: 2/5

Summary: A Quarter containing Kel'thuzad's death knights. The boss fights are not hard. The one that most groups would mess up on would be the last fight, the four horsemen.

    Instructor Razuvious:

When you get near the boss, you will notice 2 orbs on either side of his little circular area. Your tanks will not acually be tanking the boss, but you will acually be using the orbs to control the two adds that come with the boss to tank him. When using the adds to tank the boss, make sure you decide who is tanking the boss first. Whoever is tanking him first should use the add's bone shield ability then spam heart strike to gain threat. Once your bone shield goes down, the other add should use their bone shield and then taunt Razuvious off the other add and start tanking him. Keep repeating that. Razuvious will also deal 4000 damage to everyone in the raid every 15 seconds or so. The last thing the boss does is throw a knife at a raid member every 10 seconds or so. The knife will deal 5000 damage at first, then a 2000 damage bleed every 1 second for 5 seconds. Healers must heal the person and heal whichever add is currently tanking the boss.

    Tips:

-You shouldn't mess up the achievment on this guy. The only way you would is if healers forget to heal a person or don't heal the mind controlled adds.

-If both adds die, have your main tank pick him up and pop all your cooldowns. Then pray that you can live long enough until dps can bring him down.

-If both adds are released right before Razivous dies, they can be 1 shotted because of a debuff they get. Try to release them.

Gothik the Harvester: Gothik the Harvester - NPC - World of Warcraft

This guy is also very easy. Split your raid up into 2 groups and make one group stay on the live side, and the other go to the undead side (better geared people will usually go to the undead side.) Adds will spawn in waves on the live side and they must be killed. When an add dies on the live side, their spirit will travel to the undead side and come back as an undead creature. This phase lasts 4 minutes and 34 seconds. When the waves stop coming, Gothik will teleport down onto the live side and spam weak shadowbolts. He will also give the raid and undispelable debuff that reduces all stats by 10% (stacks up to 10 times.) About every 15 seconds he will switch sides and the dps on that side will start attacking him. Once he reaches 30% health, the central gate will open and everyone can dps him until he dies.

    Tips:

-Dps be careful of pulling agroo from the tanks, especially on the undead side. They hit fairly hard.

-Kill the riders first, then knights, then trainees.

The Four Horsemen: Four Horsemen Chest - Object - World of Warcraft

Once engaged, each horseman will ride to one of the corners of the room. Each horseman will apply a mark to every player near them. Every time a new mark is applied, it deals more and more damage depending on how many stacks of the mark you have on you. It is important to switch horsemen when your mark reaches 3 stacks, or else you start to take too much damage. 2 people (prefferably classes that can heal themselves) should be in the back switching between the two stationary horsemen every 3 stacks. If a horsemen does not have anyone in range of it, they will cast an ability on the entire raid dealing a large amount of damage to them which usually means a wipe.

    Tips:

-If your dps is good, burn heroism at the start of the fight and kill Thane Kor'thazz. Then move on to Baron Rivendare, then move into the back of the room and kill the two remaining ones while remembering to get out of range and let your mark wear off if it gets too high.

-Assign skillful people to the back of the room. Good classes to tank them are druids, pallies, hunters, warlocks, priests, and shamans.

-If you are attempting to burn Thane Korth'azz down fast, just be certain you have the dps. If you don't your marks will stack too high and a person will die. Like i've said many times before, better to be safe than sorry.

-If you are playing it safe, at 3 stacks, have the Korth'azz tank and Rivendare tank taunt eachother's horseman off of them. Melee and casters do not need to switch that way.

    The Arachnid Quarter

    Difficulty: Upper end of 1/5.

Summary: Spiders, spiders and guess what? Spiders. This place contains Kel'thuzad's spider collection (and a crazy female spider worshipper) that he won the annual Lich King spider convention with. The bosses here are simple and quick.

    Anub'Rekhan:Anub'Rekhan - NPC - World of Warcraft

The guy is simple, it's a tank and spank fight with crypt fiend adds that spawn. All your casters and healers should form a semi-circle and spread out to avoid being hit by the spikes. The offtank should pick up the adds, and dps should kill them. Every 80-120 seconds, the boss will cast Locust swarm, which is a stacking DoT. The tank who is tanking Anub'Rekhan should run around the edge of the circular room and ultimately move 180 degrees. During the locust swarm, all your ranged and melee should move to the very center of the room. Keep repeating this and he's dead.

    Tips:

-Make sure casters/healers stand far away enough from Anub'rekhan so they won't get hit by the locust swarm.

-If you are tanking him, be sure to watch your timer on when the locust swarm is, if you're too slow, it'll probably stack too high and you'll die. In the case that it does stack very high, warn your healers that you are using a cooldown so they don't go into a false sense of security and tell them to get some big heals on you once the cooldown wears off.

    Grand Widow Faerlina:

This fight is also a tank and spank with 4 adds. The main tank should tank the boss, and the offtank should pick up the adds. Every 60-80 seconds she goes into a frenzy and hits hard. The only way to dispel this is to kill a Naxxramas worshipper (one of the adds.) Other than that, the fight is a tank and spank besides moving out of the rain of fires that she casts.

    Tips:

-in many Naxxramas runs, groups just aoe the adds down at the start of the fight, and let Faerlina go into a frenzy. But play it safe in an undying run and kill the worshippers when she goes into a frenzy.

-In this fight it is good to assign healing duties again for the add tank and Faerlina tank, there is less confusion that way.

    Maexxna:

What better way to end a spider quarter than with a giant spider? Maexxna is a tank and spank fight with a couple things to look out for. The first is an ability she has called Web Wrap. She will use this on a random player other than the tank who is tanking her, and put the person in a web next to the wall. The person will be taking damage every 2 seconds so you need a ranged class to kill the webs to free them. Hunters and mages are perfect for this. The second thing is that she spawns mini spiders every 40 seconds, the have little health so they are easy to aoe down. At 30% health, she will go into a frenzy increasing her attack speed and damage done by 50%. Save heroism and cooldowns for this.

    Tips:

-People who are webbed wrapped should call out or ping where they are on the minimap to help the ranged class who is on web wrap duty

-the tank should save cooldowns to not die during her frenzy

    Frostwyrm Lair

    Difficulty: 4/5

Summary: The very end of Naxxramas with Kel'thuzad's frost wyrm, Sapphiron...oh and I guess Kel'thuzad.

    Sapphiron:Sapphiron - NPC - World of Warcraft

He has a cleave and a tail swipe, much like every single other dragon in WoW, so stand on his sides. He has an aura that deals 1000 damage every 2 seconds, so wear all your frost resist gear. A decursing class will need to remove the drain life that SApphiron puts on random raid members. Everyone in the raid will also need to dodge the blizzard that moves randomly towards people. Througout the fight, Sapphiron will fly up into the air and put a frost tomb on 2 people. Everyone in the raid must stand behind one of those blocks or else they will get killed from a frost orb that Sapphiron spawns. The orb will slowly descend and when it touches the ground, it explodes dealing 100k-180k damage to everyone not behind a block. These two phases repeat until Sapphiron is dead (or when he reaches 10% where he will stay on phase 1.)

    Tips:

-Wear all of the frost resist gear you have, don't try going for the The Hundred Club (10 player) - Achievement - World of Warcraft

-Decursers be fast, or Sapphiron will heal for too much damage, and dps will have a harder time. Call out if you get cursed.

-Don't stand too close to an ice block or else it might bug and the frost bomb will hit you. Just stand behind it.

    Kel'thuzad:Kel'Thuzad - NPC - World of Warcraft

The last boss of Naxxramas has 3 phases. In the first phase he will summon adds that will come toward your raid in the center of his room. Ranged should kill the skeletons and banshees, while melee should kill the abominations. After a while, he will enter phase two. Dps will start to dps him and should spread out. Kel'thuzad will put an ice block on a player and whoever else is 10 yards or closer to them, and the block will deal 104% of their total health to them in damage. That basically means they have to be healed at least once to survive. Shadow fissures will spawn randomly on the feet of one player, move out of them fast or you will die. Kel'thuzad will be casting an interruptable frostbolt on the main tank, and a frostbolt volley. Interrupting the frostbolt will help the main tank greatly. At 45% health Kel'thuzad will call two Crypt Lords into the fight. The MAIN TANK should pick them up. The reason for this is because the main tank cannot be ice tombed. Heroism should be used at this point and all dps should use cds. If everything goes good then congrats! You just finished a hard achievment in WoW!

    Tips:

-Have you offtank dps for the fight, since your mt will be tanking the adds.

-Call out if you are frost tombed so the healers know who to heal.

Note: If you raid messes up during a fight, don't panic, just keep going. Bad situations can be reversed.

This guide took a good chunk of time to make so I hope you found it useful! Feel free to leave questions or comments, or say any reccomendations for me to add to this guide! I apologize if I failed at spelling anywhere. I hope it helped!

Nice. I only see 2 problems: 1. it's all in a boring, gray colour. i recommend u make it into a other colour, i think more peoples will actually read the thing then 2. you wrote "eavh" instead of "each" at the 4 Horsemen 1. just wanted to point it out. GJ and +Rep.
I am Swedish and I like green! And most other colours too!

I wouldn't even call this an undying achievement guide... All you have typed is tips and tricks of doing the run. Then you type how to do the bosses.

Tbh I don't think you can make a guide about this achievement because it all depend on the players.

All your casters and healers should stand in the middle of the room.
Wait, what? So they ALL get hit by the spikes?.. Clever

This is not a real boss fight...or is it?!

    The hardest fight in Naxxramas
    L..o...l... xD

    Tooltip of the achivement says
Within one raid lockout period, defeat every boss in Naxxramas without allowing any raid member to die during any of the boss encounters in 10-player mode.
Means, feel free to fail as many times you want on frogger.. just dont do it while your killing patchwerk. xD
Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I'm an agent of chaos. Oh, and you know the thing about chaos? It's fair!

Lol yeah...I was kind of rushing towards the end so I didn't put as much effort in it as I did at the beginning, i'll fix that and other stuff.

I agree with you that it all depends on the players and it is impossible to make a perfect run for it, but the tips and tricks are pretty much what helps make your run good.

No matter how good your group is. Lag/Latency can screw you over.

We did fine until Saph, but then a warriors latency/lag increaseed and he died.

-Stay out of the safety dance room if you think you'll fail
-Make sure the MCers on Razouvious have done it before, else they'll break and possibly kill someone.

Thank you for the ideas.I'll add a tip about lag, and about razuvious. But what's the point of staying out of Heigan's room if you think you'll fail? You'll eventually have to go there. I reccomended doing the plague quarter at the start because that way you'll know if your group will fail. Better to wipe on Heigan at the start rather than wipe on Heigan at the end (assuming that the "fail" players aren't kicked.)
