    My impressions on professions

So, despite the catchy title this is a serious thread

I will be covering the professions which my characters have and which are the best for whatever you want to do

    So first off: Raiding
The obvious choices here for a tanking class or melee dps is blacksmithing and jewelcrafting, why? the blacksmithing adds two prismatic sockets where you can put the JC gems and then use other gems in other places for socket bonuses, moreover jc makes some nice intro trinkets and BS makes some nice intro weaponry. Also blacksmithing can make a decent profit with toc patterns or the ICC patterns that will be coming out. For a caster substitute Tailoring in for BS because of the cloak enchant (295sp i believe).

    Second: Gold Making
The obvious choices here are mining and herb, however, herb/inscription can make quite a bit too manufacturing glyphs. If you are too stupid or lazy to play the ah then just go mining/herbalism and you can pull in a nice hourly income doing this.

    Third: PVP
Now, the pve professions can be used quite well in pvp but the best profession for bgs, wintergrasp, and world pvp is engineering. Trinkets, cooldowns, rocket boots, parachutes, and the like are very attractive. If i had to pick the best two professions for arena i would say follow the pve reccomendations.

If there is anything else i should add please post but in the meantime

Enchanting is very nice too as you can make SP/sta/atkp on rings. Just as good for tanks as BS.

This is impression on professions, i.e. you don't care what it cost, only the benefits, and enchanting usually make more cash faster than blacksmithing :P
And btw, more than 1 char with professions is awesome :P My shaman have mining/herb, druid alchemy/inscription. paladin JC/ench. DK Tail/LW. Rogue Skinning/alchemy.
Alchemy due to transmute CD. However, Just use the farmer guy to get the mats required to level BS/JC. Leveling ench togheter with tailoring make it cost barely 200g on my server which is pretty expensive.
