[Howto] Gear a new level 80

This is a problem a lot of people who are new to World of Warcraft go through, when they hit level 80 and try to run instances. I have been playing World of Warcraft for a good amount of time, so I have some good experience with getting geared. Here are some tips to help you out with your level 80

1. Heroic Instances
If you have never had a level 80 before or never ran one before here are some facts about Heroics. First off you can only run them once a day. Once you run it, you must wait till 12:00 AM the next day, so it it resets. Heroics are much harder than regular instances and give much better gear. All level 80 heroic instances drop Emblem of Conquest which can be turned in for gear and other items. A good Heroic to start off with (if your gear isn't that great) is Violet Hold, its fairly easy and short and drops pretty good gear to start off with. Another good instance to get pretty good gear is Regular mode of Trial of the Champion or heroic Trial of the Champion. It actually gives gear around the level of Naxxramas and is much easier.

2. Regular and Heroic Dailies
These can be found in Dalaran by two quest givers by Violet Hold. The Heroic dailies award 2 Emblem of Triumph which is used to buy Tier 9 gear. The regular heroic dailies award 1 Emblem of Conquest and can be done in either regular or heroic mode. Note: These quests can only be done once a day. In my opinion it would be best to save up 58 Emblems of Conquest to save up for a Tier 8 piece, which can be bought in Dalaran.

3. Don't waste your money on the auction house
Many plate wearers make the mistake of buying The savage saronite gear or Ornate Saronite gear. It really isn't worth to buy it because it cost a good amount of money and it replaced in a short amount of time from doing Heroics.

4. Raids and WoW-Heroes
Once you have gotten some good gear it's time for some level 80 raids. Naxxramas 10 man is the raid that everyone runs to get gear. To see if you're geared enough to run Naxxramas go to Wow-heroes.com, chose your country, server, type in your name, tick 'live' and hit search. It will give you a bar and show you what Raid's you're ready to do. It will also give a list of all your armor and suggestions on what to replace and what to get enchants/sockets for. If you're eligible to run Naxx 10 man or Naxx 25, always be aware of Pick up groups in trade chat looking for more people for Naxx. Although pick up groups are not always successful, it is a good start. If it is your first time running Naxxramas I would recommend getting the Deadly Boss Mod's addon. You can download it from this site Deadly Boss Mods. It basically guides you through the raid and prompts you when to stop doing something or move out of the way.

5. Guilds
If you're on a high population server there are bound to be many guilds out there that will help newcomers get geared for higher level heroics. It probably wouldn't be such a bad idea to go to the WoW forums and go to your servers guild recruitment page or ask in trade chat.

If you follow these steps you should become pretty well geared, possibly run higher up raids such a Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, etc. Leave a comment or suggestion about what you thought of this guide and how I can improve it. Thanks and enjoy!
