Want to make sick gold? READ ALL OF THIS, I'm not trying to bore you, I'm trying to help. Nothing of what I posted is useless, so please read to the end.
Ok, so you guys have all heard the ever so famous method of making lots of gold with the AH; buy low sell high. But this is useless if you dont know what to buy, when to buy it and when to sell it. Here is how I've done it and made 1k profit in 20 minutes (every day) with an extra 800g that didn't sell yet. You will need the basic auction house addons (auctioneer/auctionator)
Firstly, all servers vary and the demand of items vary. If you want to do it the safe way, monitor the prices for a few days at regular intervals. Key intervals are:
• Morning (6-8am)
• Midday
• Raiding hours (6-8pm server time)
• Late night (10pm-2am)
Here is a list of items that I bought and sold
• Silver ore (sells VERY well)
• Eternal Water
• Eternal Fire
• Small Egg
• Mageweave cloth (sells VERY well. Note this down)
• Iceweb Spider silk
• Netherweave cloth
• Greater planar essence
• Greater cosmic essence
• Handful of copper bolts
• Light leather
• Medium leather
• Heavy leather
• Thick leather
• Rugged leather
• NOT BOREAN LEATHER
• NOT FROSTWEAVE CLOTH
I'll add the rest when I remember.
Buying low
I can't take screenshots to demonstrate so I will explain as best I can.
Search for an item (light leather)
Results:
Item-------------------Price for each (this is all that you want to be looking at)
2 Stacks of 3---------------40s
10 Stacks of 1--------------43s
2 Stacks of 20--------------49s
1 stack of 2-----------------1g99s
This is an ideal situation. Theres few items in total and you can dominate this. The gap between 40s and 1g99s will yield alot of profit.
What you are looking for is an item where there is a big gap from the cheapest item posted to the most expensive item posted.
So, buy them all except the 1g99s per unit item.
Then just post it and undercut it by one copper. Move on to another item, rinse + repeat.
Another way is controlling the AH by buying everything and putting it up for your own price. When to do this;
Item-------------------Price for each (this is all that you want to be looking at)
1 Stacks of 20-------------------3g40s
1 Stack of 12--------------------4g40s
What you can do now is buy them and post them for 9g per piece. This is a good indicator and it WILL sell.
When NOT to buy items
If you see this, dont buy them
Item-------------------Price for each
15 Stacks of 20------------------40s
10 Stacks of 10------------------40s1c
19 Stacks of 20------------------41s
38 stack of 20--------------------42s
3 stack of 4-----------------------42s
12 stack of 20--------------------42s
You will waste a a lot of money having to buy aaaaaaall those stacks to be able to put them up for your own price. And the difference between the cheapest item and most expensive item is a matter of silver. Not worth it.
When to sell high
You want to put them up when there will be people looking for that item:
• Midday and for 12 hrs. If it doesnt sell, you dont lose a lot of deposit money. Let it run till past raiding hours and if it hasnt sold, put it up at late night hours for 24 hrs.
• Early morning for 24 hrs. Check throughout the day to make sure no one undercut you.
OH NOES, SOMEONE UNDERCUT ME!!!!1!1!!
No worries :P if its a relatively cheap item and they undercut you by alot, buy itif your item is 250g and his is 249g, undercut him by 1 copper.
My favorite items were the ones listed further up, but the ones that were miracle workers were silver ore and mageweave cloth. People would post silver ores for 4g a piece and I'd buy them all (since there were few) and post them at my price for 12g a piece. Monopoly ftw :P
Same with mageweave, many people undercutting eachother ridiculously 50s, 40s, 20s. Id buy it all and post for 18g a stack of 20.
So, no guide will give you 20k gold in one day, but the trick is to use different methods and combine them. This was my key method that helped me get 200k gold total on my two bank toons. Enjoy, and please, post negative + positive feedback, I will respond as helpfully as possible.
(Edit: Forgot my useful AH location tip. Outside SW's AH theres a new mailbox. Stand on the crate/ledge next to it and use this macro:
/cleartarget
/targetexact Auctioneer Jaxon
/cleartarget [dead] [noexists]
Bind it to your bank alts action bar (2 on mine)
Then go key bindings and look for "Interact with target" and set it to something simple. Now you can stand within reach of a mailbox, click 2 (target auctioneer) and interact with him to open AH menu. No more walking!)
