    Improve your WoW movies.

IF YOU DONT HAVE ATLEAST A DUALCORE CPU, THIS MIGHT NOT COME OUT SO GOOD.

Hi, this is my first guide here on MMOwned. The 2 programs we are going to use is Vegas 8.0 with the codec x264vfw and a 2 pass system and also fraps. And PLEASE dont flame me the bad english, its not my first language. And if you know what im talking about feel free to skip a few steps.

You should also get these to programs:
x264vfw codec and K-Lite Codec pack

Lets start off with the k-lite codec pack, And why you are getting this.
Well this makes your VLC or other movieplayer will be able to play almost every codec. When you go to the link above you go to download and then pick the K-Lite Codec Pack 4.7.5 FULL with the lots of stuff as the the picture shows below.

After this you will go get the x264vfw codec and its just to install.

    Fraps

Now, lets more on to fraps. The only tab thats realy important is the "Movies" one.
This is my fraps settings and why.

The important onces are that you use Full-size because you cant realy get the same quality with just half and also 30 fps. The other settings are up to you.

    Sony Vegas 8.0

The first thing you do when you boot up Vegas is go to File -> Properties (Alt+Enter)
    These are my settings.

The two settings you are going to change is Width and Height to the same resolution you use in-game, And if you want you can change pixel format to 8-bit to decrese the rendering time because the quality wont go down that much and the time it takes to render will go down by half. And just Copy the rest of my settings

After that you go to the Audio tab and copy my settings that looks like this:

After this throw in a clip and some music in the timeline that is showed below and go to render as. And pick the type Video for Windows (*.Avi) and click on custom. In the first tab you only need to change the Video rendering quality to best and move on to the video tab and use the settings in the image below.

After this click the Configure button next to the Video format.
After this you will get the x264vfw configure panel and the only tab we will worry about is the Main one.

Because we are using a multipass system we are going to go the drop down menu and pick Multipass - 1st pass, with the bitrate 4500 ( Because after that point its very hard to tell the diffrance.

Then move on to the audio tab where you pick he aduio format AC-3 ACM Codec with Attributes 320 kBit/s, 44100 Hz, Stereo. And save the Template As First Pass and after this press OK.

Now go back to the Custom, go right to the video tab and go back into Configure for the Codec. But this time choose Multipass - Nth pass, Press okay and save this template as Nth Pass and press OK.

After this pick a filename, Save type should be .avi and template should be the one we made called first pass.

And press Save. You will get the x264vfw log console and it will probably not respond, this doesnt matter so just minimize it. When this is done you will notice that your video file is a very small filesize and this is because in the multipass system the first pass just goes trought the movie and checks whats in it while the Nth pass acculy renders the movie. This makes the moviequailty come out alot better.

When its done rendering Close the tab down and go back to the File -> Render as and the exacly same filename and save type, just change the Template from first pass to Nth pass. And press Save. It will ask you if you want to Overwrite, just press Yes. And it will start to render again.

When this is done you should have a very good quality on your wow movie.

This is it for me, and thats alot for taking the time to read this.

EDIT: Here is a test movie run i did, http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/TestforMMOWNED .rar

Kind of a repost. http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-gu...ml#post1455575 Loosely.

I wouldn't make it an AVI because its way too big. Unless you want to wait for hours to upload your video. WMV is still a good quality and less memory usage.

its not really about how fast your processor is, (while frapsing) getting a smooth frame rate when recording depends on if you have a good video card, meaning not lagging in dalaran already, a lot of harddrive space, thats not fagmented, meaning if you have a storage drive, its better to use that, then the drive you have windows and WoW running from, you also need a very Fast drive to write to, something thats connected to SATA or better.
    so, to sum it up,

    Video card
    Memory
    Harddrives

    hope this helps.
