Squirllz Raiding UI Guide Setup
MY UI PICTURE ADDED!
So you want to have an enhanced game interface for raiding?
This is not only a helpful way to arrange your spells in an orderly manner
but it also has a very nice vanity feel too it. Also note, this isn't for people who already know about addons and things.
I made this for the players out there who are new to raiding, the game, and other things.
So if you're going to leave comments like "lol u iz fail suk this is commen knowledgez" then please close out of this topic now, thanks!
1. Where do I start?
2. How do I setup / install addons?
3. What addons do I need?
4. Class Specific Addons
5. Healing Addons
6. Misc / Other
--------------*Where to start!*--------------
Ah, where to start. Well first off we need to figure out
what you NEED and what you DON'T NEED. Most raiders know
this already but there are some addons that become a
necessity. There are plenty of neat addon sites such as
Curse, WoWMatrix, WoWInterface. Some sites even have
their own program to automatically update & download
addons from.
--------------*How do I install addons?*--------------
Installing addons can be easy if you're computer savvy, but for those who aren't into
computer jargon and all it can be a pain in the ass. So here is the EASIEST way to install
and addon.
(This works for Vista users, not sure about XP anymore)
Find your WoW icon on your desktop
Right click on the icon
Click "Open File Location"
Find the folder named "Interface" - Open it
Open the folder called "Addons" - Open it
Now drag and drop the whole folder of the addon you just downloaded
Example, if you just downloaded X-Perl Unitframes, drag the whole folder called X-Perl Unitframes
into the "Addons" folder.
Now you say, that works great Brad...but I need a program to open up .zip's and .rar's.
Easily fixed.
WinRAR will handle all .rar and .zip's needed to be opened
(it is also a powerful tool for many other things, but those need not to be discussed).
WinRAR - http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe (DIRECT DOWNLOAD)
--------------*What addons do I need?*--------------
You will need:
- A Threat meter. Threat meters show who currently holds the highest threat
on that target. Enemies in WoW choose who they attack by who has the most
amount of 'threat'. This shows in % and #'s who has the highest amount.
The addon - OmenThreatMeter

-Boss Mods. These are almost KEY and ESSENTIAL for anybody wanting to raid.
Even from the 10 mans to the 25 mans. Boss mods warn, display %, and give
other important notices to the player when the boss is about to do a move
switch targets, drop aggro, etc, etc. Without these..raiding would be the
biggest pain in the ass.
The addon(s) - DeadlyBossMods(SUGGESTED), and BigWigs

BigWigs

-UnitFrames. Unitframes allow the user to customize their unit frames, by replacing
the default blizzard frames. The addons allow you to move your target frame, make it
enlarged, display mana / hp / pvp flag and other options. You can also have your
portraits be 3d instead of having the normal static picture. Also allows for having
more improved raid tabs, pet frames, etc.
The addon(s) - Xperl, Pitbull

-Cooldown Timer. Simple as it says, it puts a timer over the spells which have cooldowns
Indicating you how much time until that spells CD is off CD.
The addon - OmniCC

-Damage Meter. Maps, charts, and records the current DPS, Heals Per Second, Deaths, and
many other things that happened during the encounter on a boss fight. As simple as that.
The addon(s) - Recount, Skada

-Action Bars. These addons allow for a more customizable action bars. There are many options
to these addons. You can move the bars, make them smaller, arrange spells. Also you can move
your EXP and REP bars with the addon I use. Also has options for moving your bags, keyring,
vehicle bar, and other things like that.
The addon - Bartender4

-----------These next few addons are OPTIONAL, but suggested!-----------
-Buff Bars. These will replace your current buff bars (set by Blizzard) and will
give you a lot more customizable options. You can move where you want your buffs
to appear, debuffs, duration, times, etc
The addon - ElkanosBuffBars

-Loot Table. This addon is used to look up loot from bosses, rep rewards, PvP,
World Events and more. As simple as find where the loot is from, click, link,
and hope you get it to drop
The addon - AtlaslootEnhanced

-Gear Compare. Ah! How do I know what piece has more crit than haste? Easyyyy.
A gear comparing addon can make a players choice easier to decided on what piece
they want to use more.
The addon - RatingBuster
Curse.com link -
RatingBuster - Addons - Curse
-Bag Addons. If you're like me, raiders have very messy bags. Flipping through
4 or 5 different bags to find one item is a pain in the ass. So using a bag
addon to make all your bags into one big cluster-**** of your items makes this
a lot easier on my end. Like I said up top, optional, but it helps.
The addon(s) - OneBag3, ArkInventory, Bagnon (Choose one!, lol)
Curse.com link -

ArkInventory - Addons - Curse
Bagnon - Addons - Curse
What you DON'T need. Now don't get me wrong here, there are plenty of fun addons.
Some, but not limited to; ChuckNorrisFacts, ZombieTalk, SheepSpeak, etc.
These addons will only bog your interface down, and get in the way 90% of the time.
I highly suggest these addons be turned off before any serious raid..Especially since
Ulduar is already laggy as all can be! D:
--------------*Class Specific Addons?*--------------
Every class has different perks, annoyances, things they need help with. Luckily for you
you're not alone every addon writer probably plays the game (How else would they know what needs
to be made?). For Example, how do Paladins buff the whole raid?...How do hunters know when their
Lock N' Load has proc'd w/o looking at their buffs? Addons! I'm not going to go to in-depth with
this. If you've made it this far, you can go out on a wing and find addons that fit your toon and
playstyle. Anyways you can check out your class specific addons onhere:
World of Warcraft Addons - WoW Addons - Curse.com
scroll down a bit and you'll see "Class Addons".
--------------*Healing Addons!*--------------
Alas! The healers, you guys are special. Thankfully enough there are plentty of healers who feel the pain
of trying to de-curse 5 different people, or trying to keep watch on a poison volley, something crazy like that.
Here are some core healing addons that every healer should have
De-cursive. A minimal addon made to help healers decurse a lot easier and efficnetly. Read more & Download it here -
Decursive - Addons - Curse
Grid. Grid is a raid / party frame addon which is highly customizable. It shows who had a debuff, poison, whos taking
damage, etc. Make an easy setup to click, heal, dispel, etc. You can find it here -
Grid - Addons - Curse
HealBot. Do I really have to say more? Haha, This is a healer God send. Healbot has set it up where the healer can bind
heals to certain keys, shows aggro, can make bind current macros to keys, syncs with other healers using the addons, has
a res monitor and so much more. You can find it here -
HealBot Continued - Addons - Curse
--------------*Miscellaneous and Other*--------------
This section is here so I could have a bigger guide. Not, XD.
Anways. I'm going to throw out some tips for noobs who have never dealt with addons.
-Install ONE addon at a time, if you screw up, you can get addon errors, mix up folders.
It's a real big mess to clean up.
-Don't over do it! You don't need 3 threat meters, one will do.
-Always check for updates!
-Check to see if your addons are turned on before raging on the curse.com forums about
how the addon sucks and doesn't work!
*How to check to see if the addon is working*
1. Login to WoW Account
2. Look at bottom right corner
3. Click "Addons"
4. If it says "Dependancy is missing" Make sure you installed everything you needed
ex. To use some of the "Atlas" addons you need "Atlas" installed. Some addons come
in 3 or 4 parts that need a dependancy to work.
END NOTES.
I hope this guide helped you all who were obvlious to the fact addons existed.
This was written out of boredom of Ulduar and the instance servers bugged on
Gnomeregan (US, PvE). Even if this is COMMON SENSE there are still a bunch of
useful links to updated addons for you lazy folk. If you have any questions,
comments, concerns, etc. Ask! Even if you hate it, appreciate it!
