Having two gathering professions that track

Personally, I have both Mining and Herbalism as my professions, and here's why

Reason:

By using both of those professions, especially at a low level you will be able to, for example, take advantage of the high copper ore prices, and say, the high prices on Khadgar's Whiskers (a herb that had high prices on my server). Now by utilizing these two (and remember every server is different) i was able to get this at level 42 (even though the picture is at level 53)



Macro:

Simply bind this to a key on your mouse (or keyboard) and press it every few seconds, it is annoying at first, but affording your epic mount at level 40 is something that is worth it (and remember, this action turns involuntary)

Why not just Herbalism/Mining and Skinning?

I get asked this a lot by my guildies.
If i take skinning, that's just what everyone else on my server is doing... items that can be gotten by skinning are relatively cheaper on the AH than items from both Herbalism and Mining. So by doing this, i can come across a node/plant every few seconds and have my bags fill up like crazy. In fact, i suggest rolling a bank alt and just to post all of your items for you.

Heh, I know this might seem slightly nooby but I've always wanted to find out how to bind a key to my second mouse wheel (Gamers mice rules).

Looked around in my mouse's settings and it's only got "Use as horizontal Scrolling" "Use as zoom in/out" "Use as back/foward" "Use as previous/next document" and I can't find what settings to change so I can bind that, got a couple of macros along with this that would be so useful :P

Actually, wow supports hotkeys straight from the mouse... So all you really have to do is hit escape, click on key bindings, and if you scroll down you can change the key bindings to all of your hotbars (even the main one) so basically bind that macro to a key on your hotbar and just bind the correct mouse key to it =P

Noobish question here. But if your spamming this macro every few seconds isnt it possible that you will create a lag between your client console and server .. sending all those requests? o.O

An even easier method is to use a macro program or a G15 keyboard to do it automatically for you. That way you can just toggle searching on and off.

Also, using /castsequence [nocombat] find herbs, find minerals will automatically disable the clicker when you enter combat, to avoid GCD'ing you at a bad moment.
