Guide to Gliding with a druid as balance (without elite)
Something i have been searching for for a while and couldnt find, decided to try to make it possible by myself.
As you know Glider doesnt have a preset class for balance druids in the regular version. (that is if you ever tried glider)
Also you probably know that after 3.0 balance is quite good for leveling, specialy after 70
Tested on 70 in northrend with a crap geared druid (680 spelldmg 14% crit in moonkin form), works like a charm, no downtime at all.
Preparations:
1) Spec
At level 70 i would go for something like this up to level 80:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
At lower levels try keeping the mana regen from resto tree while geting to moonkin form atleast in balance.
Also, at higher levels go for omen of clarity and master shapeshifter
2) Bars
Make sure you arrange both out of form and in moonkin form bars identical (except for one button that i will explain soon)
Spells needed on both bars:
Wrath, Insect swarm, Regrowth, Rejuvination, MOTW, thorns, Water that you are using.
Spell only on out of form bar:
MOONKIN FORM
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the bind where you put moonkin form on the bar while out of form is empty on the bar while in form
Problems & Solutions:
Problem #1: Which class to choose as a base?
Simple, whats special about moonkins: they have 2 dots, they have a special form in which they perform better, instant hot, short cast with hot and long cast heal,
also 1 half hour buff and one 10 minute buff.
After reviewing that you can come to a conclusion that they are in spell selection very similar to shadowpriests.
Problem #2: Configuring the priest class
Class options:
In glider options, go to General, select class Priest and press Options
Pull distance: this value depends on your profile and level differences between you and the mobs quite a bit, i am mostly using 20 yards, but its up to you
Mind blast cooldown: set this value between 0 and 1 seconds
SW:Pain cooldown: Set it to duration of insect swarm: 12 seconds
PW: shield cooldown: NOT USED
Power word: Shield settings: OFF
wand: OFF
Mind Flay on pull: ON
Skip flay if too far: OFF
Extra flay after dot: OFF
Mind flay runners: ON
Use shadowform: ON (i will explain this later on)
Use vampiric embrace: OFF
Keys:
In glider options, go to keys, under class select priest and press edit
Select flash heal, turn off automatic and select Spell: Regrowth
Select Renew, , turn off automatic and select Spell: Rejuvination
Select Mind Blast, turn off automatic and select Spell: Wrath
Select Mind Flay, turn off automatic and select Spell: Wrath
Select PWFort, turn off automatic and select Spell: Mark of the wild
Select Inner fire, turn off automatic and select Spell: Thorns
Now for the part that makes this guide usefull
Select Shadowform, turn off automatic, under type select Character, under bar, select 1.
In the "Char:" you need to put the bind of moonkin form on the first bar, the one you selected in preparation.
Example: if you put moonkin form on char 5, write 5 in the char space, BUT, make sure char 5 isnt binded to anything while in boomkin form
Why so? Glider checks are you in shadowform, since you obviously arent cause you are in moonkin form, it trys to use the cast again to get you in shadowform, result would be goin in and out of moonkin form constantly if you had the bind on both bars. This way, it goes into moonkin form, presses the bind again, but nothing happens, it stays in moonkin form, simple way to solve it.
One last thing that could be useful:
Go to keys, under class select common and press edit
Select "Common.Drink", turn off automatic and select the water you will be using from the list
Gear choice (if you have any choice :P):
A nice balance between moonkin gear and resto gear works out excelent and removes any downtime in gliding.
If you notice you are constantly full or near full on mana, remove some mp5 for some crit
Well thats about it, going to edit this to make it more clear and add screenshot guide under the text tomorow, too tired to even think now, let alone take screens and arange them :P
