INTRODUCTION:
This is the second in a 3-part miniseries designed to simplify three of the easiest, yet most challenging bosses in Wrath of the Lich King (coincidentally, these three have been repeated from vanilla WoW).
Part 1: Frogger Boss http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-gu...ml#post1319969
Pipe Boss:
At first glance, Pipe Boss is no ordinary pipe. A complex array of twists and bends gives him an encounter that can cause raiders to slide, mercilessly, to their dooms.
Firstly, lets stop to take a look at what we're facing. Your character will be required to move along the center of Pipe Boss following the blue line. due to the nature of Pipe Boss, there are several hidden and apparent gaps from which to fall off of, as well as rounded edges that do not act as a stable surface.
Examine your path to the first bend. Note the open room to your left and the small, unassuming gap to your right, as shown by the red hatch marks. Avoid these areas at all costs and move cautiously down the blue path.
You have made it onto the first phase of Pipe Boss. While this phase is shorter in comparison, it is equally as dangerous to an unassuming raider. Continue following the blue path and keep aware of the pitfalls to either side of you.
Phase two of Pipe Boss is arguably the longest of any, although it is much more straightforward. To your right is a new pitfall. Make note of it and avoid slipping towards it.
After Phase two, you are on the home stretch. Follow the bend slowly and progress towards the open green tube.
Congratulations! You have defeated Pipe Boss!
ALTERNATE STRATEGY:
This route is not for the faint of heart. All newcomers and grandmothers are advised to disregard this portion of the guide and continue reading below.
This strategy will completely bypass phase one of Pipe Boss by jumping past the first bend, into mind-phase two. Keeping in mind that Pipe Boss connects to the starting platform at inconsistent angles, stepping off of the platform at this side would cause a wipe.
See the image below and try to duplicate the same position and angle denoted by the blue arrow. This may take several tries to perform, as the angle must be exact to avoid undershooting and falling into the gap or overshooting and landing in the room below. Do not attempt to jump towards either of the red directional arrows.
DANGERS OF PIPE BOSS:
Although falling into a crevasse will not neccessarily cause a wipe, it may depending on the raid style of your group and/or guild. If they do not completely clear the first room of the Construct (or Abomination Wing), there may be several Abominations conspiring below the starting platform. While the fall damage from Pipe Boss is severe, it will not cause death unless an Abomination is left below.
As well, if your part does not have a Warlock and two other members that have cleared Pipe Boss, falling off will cause Frogger Boss to reset. In this case, the raid should be called off, unless all members have read my previous guide on Frogger Boss.
After reading this guide, you should be adept at defeating Pipe Boss. Roll high on your epic lootz and don't forget to pick up your badge before Gluth!
