DK tank or similar guide part 1

    Tanking Deathknight or anything familiar?
(The most of this guide is calculated on the Death knight tree, and therefor the shield will not be used in the calculation)
Then this is what you NEED to know
This guide is rather long, dont be anoyed or nag about it

(This guide is also already on2fly for next patch)
Congratulations, you hitted 80 and you want to be tank. Like you already heared you gonna need tons of good blues and/or epics (Heriocs etc) and you are going to need to hit your Defcap.
    Getting your gear started:
Everyone can claim you can get the best gear from getting it of a blacksmither. Partial its true, but this guide aint about shopping from AH, however I DO recommend you buying Tempered Titansteel Helm and Tempered Titansteel Boots Tempered Titansteel Treads.
The rest of the Tempered set will do fine, until you get what is on this instancing list.
Unlike any other guide we gonna give you a list you will need to do, starting with normal instances to get good gear to get on enough defense rating to start heroics, again in an rate placed here from easiest to hardest

    CoT: Culling of strattholme
    Meathook
    <Boots>
    Slaughterhouse Sabatons.

    1439 Armor
    +51 Strength
    +76 Stamina
    Durability 65 / 65
    Requires Level 78

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 34 (8 @ L78).
Equip: Increases the block value of your shield by 51.

Culling of strattholme is considered the easiest level 80, due the amount of undead to slay and the help you get from Arthas.

Even if there is an BV on it its still very valuable for deathknights to get it due the amount of stamina and armor, and the mere fact there is enough defense rating on it.
    CoT: Culling of strattholme
    Fleshcrafter
    <Cloak>
    Flowing Cloak of Command

    504 Armor
    +37 Strength
    +39 Stamina
    Requires Level 78

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 26 (6.12 @ L78).

Again, easiest instance you can start with.
    CoT: Culling of strattholme
    Mal’Ganis
This is only attractive if your NOT a dk:
    Leeka’s shield
    7032 Armor
    197 Block
    +37 Strength
    +60 Stamina
    Durability 100 / 100
    Requires Level 78

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 38 (8.94 @ L78).

    Gundrak
    Gal'darah
    Gal'darah's Signet
    +26 strength
    +54 stamina
    Requires level 76
Equip: increases defense rating by 36
Equip: increases your expertise rating by 20
I know, why should we go back to an level 76 instance? Well the fact is there drops this very nice ring, which helps you a long way. And even if it doesn’t drop the quest you have gives as well a good ring
    ------
    ------
    ------
Now the hard instances come, you might want to chose which you do, but their all annoying to do, however to get your uncrit you gotta do it
    Occulus
    Eregos
    Dragonflight Great-Ring
    Unique-Equipped
    Finger
    +26 Strength
    +58 Stamina
    Requires Level 78

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 38 (8.94 @ L78).
    Equip: Improves hit rating by 24 (0.85% @ L78).

Now this looks like it, this ring has pretty shinies, 38 defense rating and 24 hit rating, also make sure you PICK up the quest before doing occulus and you get a nice tanking bracelet, in which I will show in the next part
    Occulus <Quest>
    Kill Eregos
    Bracers of Reverence
    873 Armor
    +25 Strength
    +51 Stamina
    Durability 45 / 45

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 34 (8.61 @ L77).
    Equip: Improves hit rating by 19 (0.72% @ L77).

Now this shiny is something you want to have before going to hc’s, again hit rating and defense rating, as dk (2hander) or as warrior you want to have enough hit rating to be sure you wont miss when tanking (Less rage as warrior, spells of a dk can miss without hitrating)
    Halls of Lightning
    Loken
    <trinket>
    Seal of the Pantheon
    Unique-Equipped
    Trinket
    Requires Level 78
    Equip: Increases defense rating by 65 (15.3 @ L78).
Use: Increases armor by 3570 for 20 sec. (2 Min Cooldown)

This is what you really want, this baby will give you a lot of defense rating in result making you much easier to tank.
    Utgarde Pinnacle
    Gortork Palehoof
    Reanimated Armor
    2093 Armor
    +68 Strength
    +105 Stamina
    Durability 135 / 135
    Requires Level 78

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 44 (10.36 @ L78).
Equip: Increases your parry rating by 47 (1.11% @ L78).

I never like UP to be straight with you, its too much hussle, nearly no breaks whatsoever. No, this aint an instance you like to do, and hopefully after this shiny you wont have to.

When doing these instances make sure you WIELD Tabard of the Argent Crusade.
    2 Reasons:
    1:
    Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector

    Binds when picked up
    Requires Level 80
    Requires Argent Crusade – Revered
Use: Permanently adds 37 stamina and 20 defense rating to a head slot item. Does not stack with other enchantments for the selected equipment slot.

    2:

    Special Issue Legplates
    Binds when picked up
    Legs
    Plate
    1831 Armor
    +30 Strength
    +102 Stamina
    Red Socket
    Socket Bonus: +4 Strength
    Durability 100 / 100
    Requires Level 78
    Requires Argent Crusade - Honored

    Equip: Increases defense rating by 69 (16.24 @ L78).
    Equip: Improves hit rating by 46 (1.62% @ L78).

After this you will have (taking out the picture the gems and socketing effects etc) around these stats form your gear, again I take in consideration you use tempered saronite gear with this, and not taking into action your 2nd trinket (Best trinket for this btw is the one out of shadow labs +32 defrating)
    + 402 Strength
    + 765 Stamina
+ 560 Defense rating (Roughtly +114 defense so it will guide you to 514 defense, hence why I said take the trinket from shadow labs, because it will guide you to 520 defense)
    + 133 Hitrating (+4.06% chance to hit a level 83 or bosses)
    + 20 Expertise
    + 47 Parry rating.

Now, you see you aren’t completely uncritteble yet, don’t worry, im not done yet.
Gems: Yes im gonna ask you to gem it with defense rating gems. Blue defense rating gems to be exact, and to ignore the stats on your set, also place an belt buckle on your belt to place also an defense gem in that one as well.
That’s 2x 16 Defense-rating, now it aint much, but it’s a start. Remember this is just part 1 of the gearing guide.
32 defense-rating equals aprox 6 defense, ups it to an total of 624.
This makes your defense at an point of 527 defense already. Now it is getting interesting.

Enchants: You already enchanted your head with the revered enchant. If you aren’t revered yet, do either quests with them or farm more HoL etc.
    Chest: + 22 defense rating
    Cloack: +12 Defense rating
Gloves, Pants and boots: +8 Defense rating.

Yes I am asking you to give up your pretty nice +45 stamina enchants on your pants, why? Simple reason: If your NOT uncrittable, your not going to any heroics.
This adds another 58 Defense rating, adding it to a total of 682 defense rating. Giving you a total boost of 140 defense. Guess what? You just became uncrittable.
This was part one of my guide, will write tomorrow part 2, the heroics part, and gearing from there. Any comments or idea’s for improving this guide? PM me

    UPDATES:
.1: Added colors to make it easier to read the guide

has been posted years before, much more usable

to reach crit immunity you need (540 def), to do that -> get the trinket from loken, the rest should be done with your blue equip farmed in the non hc instances

get hc equip for more life
get naxx equip for more parry and dodge

atm 29k life unbuffed, 545 def, 22 parry, 18 dodge, unbuffed
    (frost dk)

    1) The DK cycle isnt years old.
    2) Hence i said: everyone knows you need 540 defense, however this guide leads you to the places which are THE best for you to start in to start getting your gear to get uncritteble. 1 trinket doesnt make a different, its the whole gear thats needed
    3) If its a repost (Which i very much unlikely think due i wrote it from my bare hands) then profide a link instead of just giving info wish is quit useless.

Please, run a spell check and use different colors/spacing to distinguish things like your item descriptions. The way you have this set up right now is literally painful to read.

Batch 2 (With farming instances / rep etc for hc gear) will be posted soon.
This guide will de PDF format as its easier to set a layout for it.
This guide will help you farm instances without losing your uncrit. You might struggle in the start understanding and comprehending, and also it might sound vague in some way (example, im going to tell you to go some HC, get the epic from it, however not USE it yet, due you otherwise would lose your uncrit. Again, the guide im setting up is to get you as DK tanking to get your uncrit level without using the weapon enchants (+20 def and +2% stamina on a 2hander).

    1) This is nothing like the link you gave, i help you get your gear ready AND how to do your enchants, which gear YOU need to get from where in which order, etc.
    2) Death Knight Tank Gear Guide - 12-11-2008 is 1) No guide, just links. 2) Litteraly just posted 2 months ago.
So years? Please go to bed
