Multicore processing power isn't quantified multiplicatively; you're still only processing at 5 GHz, but your theoretical throughput is four times that of a single core processor.

Oh, and quad-core processors are largely underutilized right now; for most purposes, you'll actually see better results overclocking a dual core than a quad, simply because the dual is much more heat tolerant (but, obviously, there are exceptions).

Just curious, what do you idle at?

I don't know what I am idling at all I know is that compared to my single core board i had a few days ago this is a way bigger upgrade. I also heard that Ocing dual cores is better for gaming then quad cores.

This guide could help the children with new 999core super laptops, but some of us, with the new graphic card nVidia EN8800GT get 1/4 of normal fps as soon as we enable shadows while others, with older graphic cards get much better fps. This won't get fixed by updating drivers for anything, perhaps by downgrading to more stable drivers.
Anyways, this post is for those who also get insane lag when they turn on shadows in-game, have a quad core processor and 3 gigs of ram and a super computer in every possible way that can run all games but WoW just fine - who thought that this post was about that.
This doesn't fix it, get a new graphics card
