Guide: Farming the Baron Mount[lots(!) of pictures] incl. a tip for rogues

This is a Guide for everyone who wants the Baron Mount Deathcharger's Reins - Item - World of Warcraft

This guide will start at the very beginning and will help everyone, but especially those of you, who hasn`t been in Stratholme yet.

An important thing is that this guide is for lvl 80 characters. You could try it with lower lvl characters, but i guess you`ll aggro some mobs.


The Key

or: how to save 10 minutes every run.


First off all you need to get this key: Key to the City - Item - World of Warcraft
Besides the fact that you need this key to even get to the Baron,
this shiny little piece of metal will save you 10 minutes every run, because with this, you can use the back entrance of Stratholme. But we`ll get to this later.

Stratholme is a level 58-60 instance in the Eastern Plaguelands. So, you could possibly solo the whole thing, but i`ll show you how to get the key without killing a single mob, besides the boss who drops it and some very easy rats/ghosts. But remember, some mobs here like patrolling. You can kill them and risk pulling half the instance or you can just wait for them to leave.

The entrance







Follow the white rabbit... er.. i mean... follow the red line.










The gates will close behind you and you`ll have to aoe some rats.




A pat may show up, so i marked a safe spot for you.




You should be here. Some ghosts will spawn, aoe them down.




You can hide here from the two pats.










Walk through the gate...




...and kill the boss and loot the key.




Congratulations! You now have the Key to the city of Stratholme!


Part two: The Baron run in 10 minutes

With your new key, you can now enter trough the back entrance. The mobs here walk around a lot, so i sometimes give you several possible ways. You`ll have to choose which way is the best depending on where the mobs are.







Enter the instance and open the first gate.







As soon as you open the gate, the 45 minutes for the time run begins. Open the second gate and you should be here:




Watch out for the bats.




Kill the boss, enter the building and kill the Akolytes to disable the first crystal. Walk back on the same way you used to get here.




Kill the boss, enter the building and kill the Akolytes to disable the second crystal.







This is the tricky part. You`ll maybe aggro some mobs the first time you are here.







Kill all the mobs here. This can take a while for some clases.




When you are finished, a boss, Ramstein(german rockband btw), will appear. Kill him.




Now, a LOT of Zombies will come through this gate. This part can get very hard for classes with bad aoe abilities.




After that. 5 elite Zombies will come trough this door. Kill them.




Now, you can go into this building where the Baron will be waiting for you. Kill him and pray.







Congratulations if the mount dropped for you, if not, leave the instance( same way), reset and try again.

edit: The rogue tip:
I just found something out: When Ramstein spawns, you can run up to him and pull him inside the building. Now kill him and the 5 elites spawn instantly(after that you can get to the Baron) and you won`t have to fight the zombies. They still spawn and they wait for you outside, but you won`t enter combat until you leave the building, so this could be really usefull for rogues, i think they don`t really have a strong aoe.

Now kill him and the 5 elites spawn instantly(after that you can get to the Baron) and you won`t have to fight the zombies. They still spawn and they wait for you outside. Still, this could be really usefull for rogues, i think they don`t really have a strong aoe.

by the way: i am uploading the video right now. i filmed it with dead bosses so i could do it without my interface, but i didn`t touch the trashmobs.
