I have been hacked via keylogger too.. it's not fun. =S 3 times in a row.. =( But yeah. Changing passwords, they still got me. then when i figured out what it was, it was to late.
But yeah, This works because they dont have time to doodle around on all your chars, they just want to get in and get out. The more time they spend on your account, the larger chance you can log on while they are doing the transaction.

Also, don't have 'Bank' in your name, otherwise it's a bit of a giveaway. But yeah, having heaps of alts, level 1 (make sure they have normal names, makes them think your saving names).

If you want to be real cautious, leave

a) Them all in a main city
b) NOne of them (run your bank alt to durotar - less conspicuous).

But the best hing of all...

DONT GET HACKED!!

Kinda hard.. it just kinda happens. =S but Use a password that is the max ammount of characters possible. I think it's 15?

Ok, i think we need to stop flaming this dude, it was an honest and whole hearted try. Good job. Following what some others said, if you TRULY want to protect ur money and stuff. Store gold and valuables in ur own private guild bank. it will be safe from scammers, and even more, blizz. When my account was banned, i lost 100g, but i still had 2k gold in the guild vault that i was able to retrieve from my friends account. I had chars on her account.

I wonder how people even get hacked? Are they stupid enough to believe in these "free gamecards/generators" etc? And hacking definately doesnt just happen unless you go yelling your IP around the interwebs if you get hacked you are in most of the cases just stupid.

If I'd scam I would instantly go to the lvl 1 chars when they are standing in a capital city. It's really obvious that they are most likely bankchars and posess a filled wallet.

Anyone who is keylogged is a victim, just as in certain crimes though, it seems people are quick to shift blame to the victim for some reason.

- No I did not click on any "LOL FREE GOLD" links.
- No I did not download anything with "LOLHACKZ N WAREZ"
- No I did not fall for any sites with .cz or .cn, etc.
- Yes I use firefox with script blocker
- Yes i use a reliable virus scan/firewall

I am willing to bet hard cash that I use the internet no differently than half of these flamers and yet, guess what. I was still HACKED.

I believe I did in fact get hacked from a mod on curse-gaming, but to be honest, unless you make your own mods that is a RISK you take when using mods and if you don't use mods, lets face it, you probably don't play wow very much. So flame away, i was just trying to suggest that WORSE-CASE scenario and you somehow get hacked, you can still defend yourself by simply storing gold smartly. Some people made some great additional comments. I think I'll add them to the OP.

Also, I have indeed already taken the extra precaution of ordering an authenticator so this should not happen again.
