Play World of Warcraft Both On Retail And Private Servers Easily.

    Hey All,
Sometimes when the official World of Warcraft Servers are down but we still need to play World of Warcraft, there are a few methods to do this, you can save your World of Warcraft Files From Virus as Well. Here's how-
    1) Saving your World of Warcraft-
-When you have installed the World of Warcraft Files, take any storage device preferably some external hard drive and Copy the whole folder into it. Next time if your PC is infected by some virus and if you need to format your pc, you can restore your PC by copying the WoW Folder back. Enjoy
    2) Playing on both retail and private servers-
    - We know that many of the private servers still don't support the new version of WoW updates, an easy way to do is that, while installing create two folders, One
for retail servers and one for private servers. Now, make sure WoW you've installed, is on both the folders, only update the WoW content in the retail folders.
Now, you can play on both sides, enjoy!

there is another way to play both at once.... and here it is:

1: Go into your main WoW directory (usually C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft for XP and C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft for Vista)
2: Copy the WoW folder (CTRL-C)
3: Paste it somewhere outside of where the main is located; like your desktop (CTRL-V)
4: Copy the WoW.exe onto your desktop
    5: Rename WoW.exe to something like; Wow-Private Server-shortcut
    6: Play game

Only update the main game not the private server one otherwise you won't be able to play.

There is also another way to do this, and btw most private servers today are patched up to todays patch!

Here is another way to do it:

-Go to WoW folder in program files
-click on a file named "wtfrealmlist"
-If you are a US account, you will see something like this :
    "set realmlist us.worldofwarcraft.com"
    "set patchlist us.worldofwarcraft.com"

Delete the "set patchlist us.worldofwarcraft.com and
replace it with your private server realmlist.

    "set realmlist us.worldofwarcraft.com"
    " set realmlist your.privateserver.com"

After all you need to do is place a # at the beginning of the realmlist (no spaces) if you do not want to use that realmlist. For instance I want to log on my private server

    "#set realmlist us.worldofwarcraft.com"
    "set realmlist your.private server.com"

Every time you want to switch servers, all you need to do is place a # infront of the realmlist you do NOT want to log on to. =P
