3.0.2 is nearing and many people have questions. Hopefully this FAQ will answer them. Feel free to ask questions if they aren't in this FAQ.

1. Intro:

1.1Q Why 3.0.2 and not 2.5?
1.1A Because 3.0.2 brings a lot of changes with it that effects the core of the game. Not to mention this way they can start off with a clean slate.

1.2S World of Warcraft Europe -> Info -> Test Realm

1.3Q 3.0.2? You mean the expansion?
1.3A No, the expansion is not 3.0.2. 3.0.2 is the pre-patch for the expansion

1.4Q When will it be released?
1.4A 15-10-08.

1.5Q Will all changes in WLK beta ship in 3.0.2?
1.5A No, some changes in the beta are tests and won't come in 3.0.2.

2. General:

2.1Q Will 3.0.2 contain the new/upgraded models/animations?
2.1A Yes, the models/animations will be in 3.0.2. For example the new animations of the spells.

2.2Q Will we able to visit Northrend in 3.0.2?
2.2A No, Northrend is expansion exclusive and you won't be able to visit it yet.

2.3Q Will I be able to play a Death Knight in 3.0.2?
2.3A No, the DK is expansion exclusive.
2.3S World of Warcraft - World of Warcraft Stratics

2.4Q Can I enter the new Caverns of Time instance (COT: Stratholme)?
2.4A Although you can visit the Caverns of Time itself, you can not enter the instances before you are L80. Meaning you got to have the expansion before you can enter the instance.

2.5Q Can I level up to level 80 in 3.0.2?
2.5A No you can't. Level 71-80 is expansion exclusive.

2.6Q Will 3.0.2 make certain stuff like Naxxramas, the bear-mount, titles etc. not attainable any more?
2.6A The following items will be removed from WoW in 3.0.2:
Atiesh chain quest

Bear-mount from Zul'Aman (will be replaced with new items).

Onyxia chain-quest

Naxxramas (L60 version will move to Dragonblight)

Mount speed increase items.

T4 and T5 titles.

2.7Q Will 3.0.2 introduce the Stormwind Harbor?
2.7A Yes it will.

2.8Q What is the Stormwind Harbor and what is it?
2.8A The Stormwind Harbour is a harbour. It will have boats taking you to Alliance places. The Stormwind Harbor can be found in Stormwind next besides [The Park] and [Cathedral Square]. The guards can also show you the direction to the harbour.

2.9Q Which boat goes to where?
2.9A The boat on the left side goes to Auberdine and the boat on the right side goes to Borean Tundra (once WLK is here).

3. PvP:

3.1Q Will I lose my honour/arena-points when 3.0.2 comes?
3.1A No you won't.

3.2Q Will Strand of the Ancients (the new battleground) be included in 3.0.2?
3.2A No it won't. SOTA is an expansion exclusive battleground. This because it's a L71-80 battleground.

3.3Q Will the new arena maps be included in 3.0.2?
3.3A Yes they will.

3.4Q Will there be a season five for Arena PvP?
3.4A Yes there will. However there will be no new gear and titles for level 70 content.

4.1Q What new UI goodies will 3.0.2 introduce?

4.2Q Will 3.0.2 destroy all my mods again?
4.2A Some may require a small update, but nothing major may changed.

4.3Q Where's the build-in threat-meter?
4.3A The threat is displayed in two ways:

Threat on the target frames

4.4Q Where did the FPS, latency and addon-usage go?
4.4A You can now find it while hovering over the computer-icon (options-button).

4.5Q How do I set a focus-target?
4.5A Simply right-click on the target and click “set focus”. To remove the focus-frame simply right-click on the focus-frame and click “clear focus”.

4.6Q What is the Currency interface?
4.6A The Currency interface will store various currency items (badges etc) for you. You can find it by clicking on your character-button and then the Token-tab.

4.7Q What kind of tokens can the Currency-tab hold?
4.7A Currently it can hold:
All PvP tokens

Arena points

Badges of Justice

Honour points

Upcoming WLK tokens[/u]

4.8Q Can I display the currency like I do gold?
4.8A Yes you can. Simply click on a currency and mark "Show on Backpack".

4.9Q How do I link my professions in chat?
4.9A Go to the profession interface and click the “∞” icon.


Classes:

5.1Q Will we get a free respec when 3.0.2 hits?
5.1A Yes, you will get a free respec.

5.2Q Will 3.0.2 contain the new/revamped talents or new/revamped spells/abilities? Will we get a free respec?
5.2A Yes it will. 3.0.2 will introduce the new talents and spells/abilities (this includes the 51-talent points). Yes, you will get a one-time free respec when the patch comes.

5.2N Do note that that obviously not all ranks or new spells can be obtained because of level-requirements.

5.3Q Will 3.0.2 introduce the new pet-talent system?
5.3A Yes it will.

5.4Q How many talent-points will the Hunter's pet get?
5.4A Per four levels, a pet will receive one point. So you can spend 13 points on level 70 (or rather put, from level 6.

5.5Q What new pets can Hunters learn with the 51-talent point in TBC?
5.5A The following pets can only be tamed when having “Beast Mastery” (the 51-BM-talent):
Chimera

Corehound

Devilsaur

Silithid

Wasp

Worms


5.6Q My lower spells/abilities say they cost way more mana then my latest-rank. This a bug?
5.6A No, it's not a bug. Blizzard decided that down-ranking would not be a good way to play.

5.7Q Where did my spell-damage and healing stats go?
5.7A These stats are now merged and is now called spell power. The amount of spell power will be lower compared to the old stats, but the results will stay the same. The items containing spell power and healing will be changed to give spell power.

5.8Q Are there any major raid changes in 3.0.2?
5.8A Yes, various buffs and auras will be changed. See the link for details.

5.9Q Will 3.0.2 be the death of various things? (for example Warriors tanking Illidan)
5.9A Blizzard is still working on the talents and how certain removal/altering of abilities will work. Illidan will for example no longer have the Shear ability.

5.10Q Will we be able to do multi-specs?
5.10A No, this is coming after WLK ships in a patch. ETA is unknown.

6. Inscription & Glyphes:

6.1Q Will 3.0.2 introduce Inscription, the new profession?
6.1A Yes it will. You can level up inscription up to level 375.

6.2Q What does Inscription do?
6.2A With Inscription you are capable of making the following things:
Buff scrolls (like the ones you loot)

Cards (Darkmoon cards)

Enchant scrolls (be able to put enchants on scrolls)

Glyphs (read further)

Off-hand items

Runewords (temporary armour buffs)

Runes (offensive spells)

Shoulder enchants

6.3Q What gathering profession do I need for Inscription?
6.3A Herbalism.

6.4Q Where can I train Inscription? Where can I find a [Virtuoso Inking Set] for Inscription?
6.4A Each city should have a trainer along side a vendor for Inscription. [Virtuoso Inking Set] can be found in the Inscription vendors.

6.5Q How do go I beyond Inscription level 60-65?
6.5A You will need to “Mill” herbs. Milling herbs results in destroying five herbs but gives new reagents back (just like Prospecting with Jewelcrafting).

6.6Q What do the cards or tarots do?
6.6A If you complete them all (from ace until five) you will get a Deck. The Rogue deck for example is a low level quest which results in you delivering the Deck to the Darkmoon Fair. Currently the tarots/decks are:
Arcane Tarot (of Mages deck)

Mysterious Tarot (of Rogues deck)

Shadowy Tarot (of Demon deck)

Strange Tarot (of Sword deck)

6.7Q What are Glyphs?
6.7A Glyphs are “spell-enhancers” (effect your spells/abilities). There are two categories: three major and three minor (so 6 in total). The minor will be cosmetic spell enhancers or small increase of spell (For example Polymorph turns into a penguin or lesser mana cost). The major will be a big spell enhancer (for example more damage, more effects on a spell).

6.8Q Where can I find my Glyphs?
6.8A Press your spellbook and click the Glyphs-tab.

6.9Q Can I replace glyphs? What will happen to the replaced glyph?
6.9A Glyphs can be replaced, however, upon doing so you will destroy the old glyph. This can be compared to Jewelcrafting gems on items. Do note that there is a one-hour cooldown when replacing that glyph.

6.10Q How many Glyph-slots do I get per level?
6.10A
Level 1-14: No glyhp-slots at all

Level 15-29: 1 major and 1 minor

Level 30-49: 2 major and 1 minor

Level 50-69: 2 major and 2 minor

Level 70-79: 2 major and 3 minor

Level 80: 3 major and 3 minor

6.11Q Where are the minor glyphs?
6.11A You can discover these by using [Minor Inscription Research]; learnable at 90 inscription.

7. Mounts and vanity pets:

7.1Q Dude, where's my mount dude?
7.1A Dude, it's now put in your mount storage space. Press your “character” button and then “Pets”. Select the tab “Mounts” and there they are. Mounts are now “learnable” and won't use up any bag-space any more. As always, mounts can be put on your hot-bar.

7.2Q I seem to miss my vanity pets. Where did they go?
7.2A Just like the mounts they got a separate storage space now. You can find the pets by pressing your “character” button, press “Pets” and then “Companions”. Vanity pets are now “learnable” and won't use up any bag-space any more. As always, vanity pets can be put on your hot-bar.

7.3Q Will 3.0.2 give the 3-person-mount?
7.3A No it won't.

8. Achievements:

8.1Q When do I get an achievement?
8.1A You get an achievement once you completed a certain criteria. The criteria can vary and can be viewed in the achievement-window (the little golden shield in your mini-bar).

8.2Q Will I get achievements of things I already done? For example kill Vashj.
8.2A Yes and no. Certain achievements will be complete once you start. Certain rep, items, quests and profession goals will be complete (if they meet the criteria). Achievements like “do this and that”, “kill him/her/it” etc will not be complete and will have to be done again.

8.3Q Can I see how many things I still need to do for that a certain achievement?
8.3A Yes, with some achievements you can click on them to see the status. For example exploration achievements will show you sub-zones not explored yet.

8.4Q I just completed an achievement and now there's a the same achievement again but not completed.
8.4A Yes, some achievement get new “levels” after reaching that achievement. For example get 5 reputation to exalted will result in a new achievement that required 10 reputations on exalted.

8.5Q Do achievements give anything?
8.5A Yes, certain achievements give titles, pets etc.

8.6Q Can I spend achievement points on anything?
8.6A No, they aren't a currency.

8.7Q Can I track achievements like quests?
8.7A Yes you can. Simply click on the achievement and put a mark on the “Track”.

8.8Q When do I get my rewards from the achievements?
8.8A Non-title rewards will be delivered by (in-game) mail.

9. Barbershop:

9.1Q Will the barbershop feature be in 3.0.2?
9.1A Yes it will.

9.3Q What can I change in the barbershop?
9.3A Hair style, hair Colour and facial features. Along side that certain races got an extra feature. Undead have more facial features, Taurens have horns and Draenei have tentacles and/or horns.

11. Misc:

11.1Q Will 3.0.2 also have the updated graphic options (like the new shadows)?
11.1A Yes it will.

11.2Q What does the new Shadow Quality do?
11.2A It will draw shadows as if it was effect by the sun and enviroment.

11.3Q Will 3.0.2 reintroduce Stormwind's king (King Wrynn)? What about Sylvannas's new model?
11.3A Yes they will.

11.4Q Will 3.0.2 give Bind on Account items?
11.4A No it won't.
