[Guide/FAQ] How to use the Calendar

THIS IS A REPOST OF SCHWICKS POST ON OFFICIAL WOW FORUMS!

    Welcome,

3.0.2 will implemented a build-in calendar-system that is handy for raiders, role-players or general events. With the following guide I hope to explain how the system works. Enjoy!

    The interface:

    Opening the calendar
The interface is really simple. To access the calendar, click the big “today's day”-icon on the mini-map. ImageShack - Hosting :: iconso9.jpg

    The calendar interface
Upon accessing the interface you will see various realm-events; you can filter these. Simply click the “Filters” button in the right-corner. You will get the following options:
Battleground Holidays (which battleground holiday is it each week?)

Darkmoon Faire (when does the fair start and end)

Active Raid Lockouts (show/hide raids you are saved to)

Raid Resets (when does the raid reset)

Weekly Holidays (for example the STV fishing contest)
The only filter that will effect custom events is the “Active Raid Lockouts”.

    It's getting crowded
If the amount of events on the calendar is getting crowded, then there will be an small arrow on the day. When you click on it you will get a list of all events on that day. Simply click the event you want and it will show up. Close the event-window when you want to interact again with the event.

    Legend
Various events will have a colour on their name. The events have the following colour:
    Green: You accepted the event.

    Red: You declined the event.

    White: Realm-event

    Blue: Your custom event

    Orange: Locked-out event

    Event Icons:
Each event has its own icon. The following icons are:
    PvP-event: ImageShack - Hosting :: pvpby7.jpg

    Meeting-event: ImageShack - Hosting :: meetingzf6.jpg

    Other-event: ImageShack - Hosting :: otherspw0.jpg

STV fishing contest: ImageShack - Hosting :: stvfishzq7.jpg

Darkmoon Faire begins: ImageShack - Hosting :: darkmoonbeginlp7.jpg

Darkmoon Faire ends: ImageShack - Hosting :: darkmoonendpr3.jpg
Other icons are dungeon-events or realm-events (like Haloween).

    You got a new event!
If you are invited to a new event, you will get a notification. The notification will show up on the calendar-icon. It will flash and see you got a new invites.

    Viewing an event:

If you want to see details of an event, simply click the event. You will then see details of the event. If it is a realm event, you will see details about the event.

If it is a custom event, then you can see who was invited, who accepted/declined etc. If you decide what you to do with an event, simply click on it (this only works for custom events!). You will the following options:
    Accept: You accept the event.

Decline: You decline the event but still will be on the list.

Remove: You completely remove yourself from the event.

As long as the event hasn't been “locked”, you can change your status.

    Creating an event:

So you are ready to manage your own event. Click on a day (that isn't in the past) and right-click on the day. You then click on “Create Event”.

You will get the following options to fill in:
    Name: Speaks for itself.

Type of event: (it standards says “Other”) You can select what type of event it will be:
Raid: All 10-man or above dungeons. You will get a sub-menu to select the raid-dungeon you want to do.

Dungeon: All 5-man dungeons. You will get a sub-menu to select the 5-man dungeon you want to do.

    PvP: Speaks for itself.

    Meeting: Speaks for itself.

Other: Anything that doesn't belong to the other options.
Time: Depending on your time-settings, you will either show 2 options (24-hour mode) or 3 options (AM/PM-mode).

    Description: Speaks for itself.

Lock Event: People can't be invited or change their statuses.

Invite: You add a player's name there. Doing so will make sure that person can join the event.

Once you invited some people, you can right-click on their name. If you click “Grand Moderator Status” then that person can also change the event-details or invite people and their statuses.

Once you are done, click the “Create” button and the event is made.

    Managing an event:

After an event is made, you can manage it. Simply click on your made event. You will show the same window as with creating an event. A thing you can do extra this time, is change people's status. You can do this by right-clicking on their name and select “Set Invite Status”. You will get four options:
    Accepted/Declined

    Confirmed/Declined

    Out

    Standby
In terms of usage it doesn't matter (besides Accepted/Declined). The event-manager can add its own meaning to the statuses. For example “Out” means “sitting out”, “Standby” is “Only if needed” etc.
    ImageShack - Hosting :: setstatusou4.jpg

Besides changing the statuses, you can also alter the details of the event. Once you are done altering the details, simply click “Update” and the details are altered.

    Q&A:

1Q Can I add reoccurring events?
1A Yes and no. You can simply copy/paste an event. You can do this by selecting a made event and right-click on it. Then select “Copy” and go to the day you want to paste the event. Right-click and select “Paste”. All the invited people will also be copied also (unknown if the status of the people is also included).

2Q Does the Calendar have an archive? If so, how long does it last?
2A Yes, the calendar shows events in the past. It's unknown how the details will stay in the archive.

3Q Will the calendar show up on the armoury?
3A Yes, although it depends on the guild's settings (same as the guild-bank).

4Q How many people can I invite to an event?
    4A Unknown, but I think it's a maximum of 40 people.

5Q Can I invite people outside the guild to an event?
5A Yes you can. Simply add them to the invite-list.

6Q Can I define which PvP event I want to do? What about heroic-mode?
6A No, you can't define what PvP (battleground/arena) you want to do. In terms of heroic-mode you can define the heroic-mode for WLK's raid-instances. However, you can't do the same for 5-man instances.

7Q Help! I can't see an event somebody made.
7A Make sure your filters are good. Last but not least, make sure the event-manager added you to the invite-list.
