[Guide] 19 twink rogue - multiple gear sets - competitive WSG area

    Twink Guide

    19 Rogue

This is just a guide for building a “perfect” 19 rogue twink, not how to play one. I know there are other 19 rogue guides on these forums but most of them are missing items. And I haven’t been able to find any guides with AP gear. Also there is some info on Wotlk changes that affects twinks later on. Getting everything in this guide will cost probably cost over 10k gold now the SFK drop nerf has happened, I got all this pre 2.3 so I spent about 4k. I haven’t included profession’s as there are several good twink profession guides already posted on here.

I have only included guides for AP rogue and Balanced rogue for a reason. Basically this guide is for competitive WSG and Arena. You would never go into an arena with a stam set on as they suck vs all classes bar casters in 1v1. Basically your team mate would get raped while u deal out pitiful dmg. In WSG rogues aren’t good FC’s. I know it’s easy enough to cap flags as a fully twinked rogue in a pug but I’m talking about 10man premades vs other 10man premades. With an organised defence and offensive a stam rogue would never perform as well as a Druid/Warrior or pally FC(and hence be a waste of a DPS slot in your premade). The only time you would carry the flag is if your FC went down you would take it and sprint off and give it to another class/cap. Basically if you want to be a FC don’t play rogue

Secondly Dodge rogues are very similar to Balance rogues, Change out rings for meadow rings of eluding, put on Glowing Lizard Scale Cape(+3agi) and put your second pair of Fishing boots with +12 agi enchant on and your pretty much set. But again dodge rogue are really only useful for duelling other rogues.

While in arena and WSG you will pretty much only ever use AP gear and balance gear. I normally queue 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 with guild healers and I go in max DPS gear as I’m almost never the first target to get focus fired. As for wpn enchants crusader is shit on a 19 rogue, end of story. Any competent player will just kite you when it procs and make you waste the buff. Lifestealing is useful but the survivability of +15 agi is better vs melee classes and vs casters/mail it’s generally better to go fiery for the extra DPS. I would only recommend getting LS if you have 4+ shadowfangs.

As for dagger rogues, they can do some nice DPS with assassin’s blade but vs good players you will have a very hard time getting behind them and the DPS from shadowfang is just too good to miss. On my rogue twink I have 2x assassins blade’s 2x shadowfang’s CB/TB basically pretty much all twink rogue wpns. I have always performed better using shadowfang than assassin’s blade. But its nice to have an assassin’s blade with +5wpn dmg for ambush’s. In full ap gear its possible to crit 3k+ with ambush on FC with the +100% dmg debuff.

This is my rogue twinks Cyric

All the gear I recommend in this guide I have on my rogue and I have tested the alternatives and I have posted the setups I found worked the best

    Gear

    [#03]

    Balance

This will be the gear set you wear most of the time.

    Head - Lucky Fishing Hat
Enchant: +8 agility, obtained through a repeatable quest Libram of Voracity
Turn in to a blood elf in northern Burning Steppes. Click here for quest link

    Neck - Sentinel’s Medallion/ Scout’s Medallion

    Shoulders - Serpent’s Shoulders/Feral Shoulder Pads

Feral Shoulderpads are only if you have Might of the Scourgeon them. They drop off of Sapphirion 2nd to last boss in Naxxramas.

    Back - Sentry Cloak
    Enchant: Enchant Cloak - Dodge

Chest - (Alliance)Tunic of Westfall (Horde)Blackened Defias Armour
    Enchant:Enchant Chest – Greater Stats

Wrist - Wrangler’s Wristbands of the Monkey(+3/+3)/Forest Leather Bracers
Enchant: Enchant Bracer - Superior Stamina

    Gloves -Gloves of the Fang
Enchant: Enchant Gloves - Superior Agility

Waist - Deviate Scale Belt/ Belt of the Fang

Legs - Scouting Trousers - Item - World of Warcraft Scouting Trousers of the Monkey(+5/+5)
    Enchant: Nethercleft Leg Armour

Boots - Nat Pagle’s Extreme Anglin’ Boots
    Enchant: Enchant Boots - Boar’s Speed / Enchant Boots - Cat’s Swiftness

For Alliance I would recommend Boar’s Speed and for Horde I would recommend Cat’s Swiftness. This is due to the big Agi/Stam difference between the chests.

Ring1 - Seal of Sylvanas / Seal of Wrynn

    Ring2 - Protector’s Band / Legionnaire’s Band

Trinkets - 2x Arena Grand Master + Insignia of the Alliance / Insignia of the Horde

Switch in 1 AGM for Insignia while the Insignia is on Cooldown as AGMs share a cooldown, its purely for the bonus 2% dodge while insignia is useless on cooldown.

    MH Weapon - Shadowfang
    OH Weapon - Thief’s Blade
    Enchant: 2xEnchant Weapon - Agility
    Thrown - Throat Piercers

As Throat Piercers are only sold by a horde vender in the Ghostlands, for alliance to get them you must get a horde on your server to put them on a neutral AH.

    [#04]

    Attack power

This armour set if usually used for killing EFC quickly and for competitive arena where you won’t be focus fired (depends on the setup your running). I’ve only listed the changes to the main set here. Any slot not mentioned look above.

    Back - Glowing Lizardscale Cloak
Enchant: Enchant Cloak - Lesser Agility

Or Subterranean Capebut you lose 2 stam 0.28% crit 0.56% dodge 4 armor for 2 AP so

Chest - (Horde) Bandit Jerkin of Power(+16)
Enchant: Enchant Chest – Greater Stats

    Wrist - Wrangler’s Wristbands of Power(+10)
Enchant: Enchant Bracer - Superior Strength

    Waist - Blackened Defias Belt

Legs - Scouting Trousers of Power(+16)
    Enchant: Nethercobra Leg Armour

Boots - Scouting Boots of Power(+12)
Enchant: Enchant Boots - Greater Agility or use fishing boots with cat’s swiftness if you want to keep the speed.

    Weapons - 2xShadowfang
Enchant: 2xEnchant Weapon - Fiery Weapon

Fiery Weapons are the highest DPS you will be able to get, especially against paladins, druids, and warriors because of the high armour.

    [#05]

    Wotlk Racial changes:

Bear in mind these changes to racial abilities that will be implemented soon. Taken from ************.com

Changes that should be in the next beta push. Bear in mind that some of these may change somewhat or entirely, and there may also be other changes coming in subsequent pushes:

    Orc
    - Hardiness now reduces the duration of stun effects by 15%

    Troll
    - Racial Passive "The Voodoo Shuffle": Reduces the duration of all movement impairing effects by 15%. Trolls be flippin' out mon!

    - Berserking: no longer has an activation cost of energy/rage/etc

    Draenei
    - Gift of the Naaru: now scales based on the higher of either the caster's Attack Power or Spell Power

    - Shadow Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Shadow spells by 2%

    Dwarf
    - Frost Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Frost spells by 2%

    - Racial Passive "Mace Specialization": Expertise with Maces and Two-Handed Maces increased by 5.

    Undead
    - Shadow Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Shadow spells by 1% (yes, this is lower than the other resistance racials)

    - Will of the Forsaken: removes any fear, sleep, or charm effect (no longer has a lasting immunity).

    Night Elf
    - Quickness: reduces the chance to be hit by melee or ranged attacks by 2%

    - Nature Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Nature spells by 3%

    Tauren
    - Endurance: now scales based on base health, to be tuned to approximately a 5% heath increase if the player were wearing green quality gear

    - Nature Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Nature spells by 2%

    Gnome
    - Escape Artist: the freeing effect can no longer be resisted

    - Arcane Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by Arcane spells by 2%

    Blood Elf
    - Mana Tap: ability removed (partially integrated into Arcane Torrent)

    - Arcane Torrent: restores 15 energy, 15 runic power, or 6% of mana to the Blood Elf (along with the current 2s silence effect)

    - Magic Resistance: reduces the chance to be hit by spells by 2%

    Human
    - Perception: changed to a passive, now grants one character level of passive stealth detection

    - Racial "The Fall of Humanity": Feign death which may trick enemies into ignoring you. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect. 5min cooldown

    - Racial Passive "Human Supremacy": The dominance of Humanity is evidenced by having one more racial bonus than normal. Actually, make that two counting this one. (just a tooltip, no actual functionality)

    - The Human Spirit: spirit bonus lowered to 5%

Wotlk introduces Bind to Account Items. These are bought from vender’s with “Emblem of Heroism” much like the Badge of justice rewards are now. The only item that might be any value to a 19 rogue twink are the shoulders and maybe the dagger for offhand or MH if you cant find an assassin's blade for ambush. These scale with the level of your char.

    Stained Shadowcraft Spaulders
    69 armour
    +4 stamina
    Requires lvl 1 to 80 (19)
Equip: increase attack power by 14
Equip: improves hit rating by 4
Equip: Experience gained increased by 10%

    Balanced Heartseeker
    One-Hand Dagger
    17 - 33 Damage Speed 1.7
    (15.0 damage per second)
    +2 agility
    Requires lvl 1 to 80 (19)
Equip: increase attack power by 8
Equip: increase hit rating by 1

According to a blue post on ************.com all these bind to account items can be enchanted with anything that works on a lvl 1 item. Theoretically this could mean that the aldor/scryer enchants will now be possible to get on these w/o exploiting as they bind to account not to character. Or grind your MotS now on your main and save it for this.

    [#06]

    Tips /common sense.

Complete all the quests for quest items you need as soon as you reach the min level to accept the quest.

Turn in the first arena master trinket before lvl 19 as the first turn in grants exp.

06:00 is the least active time for the arena chest on my server and always try to take some lvl 70 friends with you.

the lvl requirement has been removed from the fishing book sold in booty bay. So now twinks can get 225 fishing unbuffed. Max out your fishing skill and take lures for the contest.

My favourite place to fish is Yojamba Isle and the coastline near. Take a lvl 70 with you for protection and to kill and mobs in the way. But don’t grp with them so you don’t receive any exp from mob kills.

Explore and area you may want to visit when your twink is finished before you hit 19. I usually get fishing gear, arena grand master and fully explore every area up till about lvl 30-40 quest zones at level 10.

Get an Assassin's Blade with +5 wpn dmg for ambushing.

In Wotlk gathering proffesions give bonuses, Skinning +crit rating, Mining +hp, Herbing – a self hot with 3min cd. Also gathering professions aren’t capped by lvl so it is possible to get 375 skill in them for some awesome bonuses. (Already some 19 twinks have 375 mining skill in anticipation of Wotlk)

Level first aid to 225 and use heavy runecloth bandages for a 2000hp heal over 8 sec
For fighting casters and warriors/paladin’s use duel Shadowfang with fiery as the fiery dmg isn’t mitigated by armour. Also you can interrupt bandages through one of the paladin’s bubbles with the Shadowfang proc.

Thanks for reading(if anyone actually reads it)
