*Updated somewhat*
Hai, I´m new to the forums if you haven´t already noticed and thought i will start by posting my first thread for beginners mostly on basic end game Pve´ing/Pvp´ing, but most credit for this goes to squirrelly of LN for starting the guide, I will finish it. When i myself was just a noob at Wow i was very confused on which class to pick. Which will dominate? Which will be the best? This will in my view help out.
What this guide will do is tell you what you can do with the class at 70 and the specs to go along with it.
For the seriously retarded:
Pvp = Player vs Player - This is combat between 2 player controlled characters
Pve = Player vs Environment - This is Interaction between a player controlled chatacer and a NPC ( No Player Console )
Ok let´s begin ...
Paladin- This hybrid class has evolved now thanks to BC. With the increased usefulness of a paladin tank, and actually the introduction of tankadin gear more and more now, they can gear effectively. At the same time, no class can out-heal a single target better than a holy paladin. Geared around increased crit, their holy lights and flashes of light hit higher and better than any other heal class. However, when it comes down to group healing, they drop to the bottom of the list of healers. They cannot heal multiple targets as well as others. Their dps build is indeed a joke amongst a lot of WoW players, BUT, if you can get the high end gear, it can be very good. This is the fatal flaw though, without the gear, they cannot dps.
PvE-
Prot- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
There is always a flexibility to tankadins. Pre-raid, reckoning is a very useful talent, but in a raid it can mean a wipe. Hence why I do not include it ever and I do not include Kings either. You aren't there to help other people with silly buffs, that is what holy paladins are for. You are there to keep the raid from wiping, so ignore the critics, you don't need Kings. You are a tank, think like one, so that means you are number one.
Heal- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Crit is your friend and makes those holy lights hit for 7000-8000+. Focus on increasing your crit along with your mp5 and you can heal for days.
PvP
Ret- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Loladin's can begin to dish out the pain when they have the gear to go along with it. Don't try it without the gear, you will only get gear checked in the mouth.
Priest- The priest class has evolved post-BC from the way it was formerly played. Originally it was only seen as THE main healing class. Everyone else was just a support healing class to the priest's. Going dps was foolish to many. Now in BC, the choice is entirely your's. Shadow priests are now extremely valuable to any raid with their health and mana return to their party and their debuff's that assist warlocks. Holy priests are no longer the main healing class, as paladin's now can do this as well, but are still top notch. Priest buffs are greatly valued to any raid. Discipline has now evolved and is now used by a lot of people in PvP healing enviroments, but are a little gimped in PvE when compared to a holy priest, but imp spirit buffs are loved by everyone.
PvE
Discipline/Holy- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
I'm not a fan of it, but imp spirit some people love to see so there it is. If you are looking to be a greater healer, I would stay stay away from this.
Holy- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Now remember, no matter what you end up going, spirit is your best friend, but even more so with this build. It buffs up your healing incredibly and if you ever go out of mana, an innervate will regenerate an extremely large amount of mana for you. Circle of healing is extremely useful and often over looked, but there will be times when the entire raid will be taking damage in close proximity of each other and you will watch your healing done shoot through the roof. Raid healing is what priests can do extremely easily with renews and CoH, remember that.
Shadow- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Shadow priests are extremely sexy now and are loved by every healing class. I can guarentee you throw one in with a group of holy paladins and they will NEVER go out of mana. Constant streams of damage is what you need to focus on, keep Vampiric Embrace and Touch up there on boss fights (waste of mana on trash.) Constantly cycle Mind Blast and Mind Flay and just keep renewing your Shadow Word: Pain.
PvP
Discipline- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Even though this class is squishie, with enough resil a disc priest can last for days on end. So many talents assist them in staying alive to keep the healing, find yourself a nice partner for 2's or 3's and you will rock house. I won't recommend any other healing build for PvP besides this because holy isn't nearly as effective in the PvP enviroment.
Shadow- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Not much really changes from going to PvE to PvP. You do need to obviously spec out of things that reduce your threat generated. Silence is extremely effective and reducing the CD of your fear spell is also extremely helpful.
Rogue- One of the top dps classes in the game and can throw up such high numbers in a matter of seconds those caster classes will be in tears as they watch themselves drop to the ground. In terms of PvE, if you gear correctly, NO ONE can out dps you. With the constant supply of energy and the ability to pull off and switch to a new target with such ease, the dps always piles up. At the same time, rogue's were bred to PvP as well. Their only formitable opponents come in the form of silly plate wearers such as warriors and paladins. Though if you gear check those two in the mouth, you can win everytime. Choosing what to do with a rogue at 70 is always the hardest for a lot of people because they dominate in both PvE and PvP.
PvE-
Combat- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
There are certain points that can easily be changed and taken away that aren't crucial to the build. Something like mace spec can easily be changed if you find yourself with, oh, I don't know, Twin Blades of Azzinoth? However, unless you have absolutely pwnage weapons, mace and fist are your best bet because they increase your crit. A lot of end game mobs will be immune to stun so it is whatever you find yourself sitting on, especially with the addition of the fist badge gear. Some people pop two points into imp sprint, I don't really think that is needed...at all.
Mutilate- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
I am not a big fan of mutilate as it really doesn't allow you to spec into a weapon and most of the time you are centered around poisons. It is a love/hate sort of thing and I personally hate it. But hell, it is viable build that I am just not a fan of, you have to decide.
PvP-
Subtelty- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
I completely and utterly disagree with anyone that thinks that combat is a good build for PvP'ing. Cheat Death alone is the best talent around and will have everyone pulling their hair out because you are such an ******* for not dying. Shadowstep is orgasmic and it is to difficult to look past it. I didn't spec into imp ambush because this is built around the idea of not using daggers. If you find yourself PvP'ing with daggers...which is foolish in my opinion, then respec it. I am to much a fan of fist weapons for PvP'ing to even begin to think about things like backstab and ambush. Garrote and cheap shot work just as well.
Warlock- They are an extremely useful support class and have been able to, used correctly, been a top dps class as well. With either the ability to make your DoT's an extremely useful tool or have your timed cast spells hit harder, they are always appreciated. One of the most useful abilities is their wipe recovery ability in the Soulstone. With the ability to allow one person every 30 minutes to ressurect in the event they die, this allows the entire raid to be brought back if placed upon a healer. Their healhstones also give classes that are lower in the heal priority a chance to regain health in dire situations. In terms of PvP, they are the most hated and loved class around. With their constant damage streaming in from DoT's and the ability to place two to three instantly on many targets in a matter of seconds. Add in the spell Fear which sends their enemies fleeing in just that, fear, for 20 seconds in the beginning, other classes will find themselves cursing at their screen.
PvE-
SM/Ruin- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
This spec is built around the idea of using your DoT's as the main source of your damage. With a lower spell crit, this is the spec of choice and when you get a higher crit ~23%, then you can change to
Destro Shadow- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
The idea here is to sacrifice your Suc in order to get an increased shadow damage. Shadowbolt can and does out-dps fire spells so it is recommended to stay more geared towards that. Shadowbolt is the bread and butter here with using only a curse and an occasional immolate and conflag to increase dps.
PvP-
SL/SL- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Repeat after me, full demo is a complete waste of time. This is by far the BEST PvP build a warlock can have. With the increased spell damage, health, and all around survivability from the demo tree coupled with instant DoT's, it is a very nasty PvP build.
Warrior- The best single target tanking class in the game. They cannot be outpreformed by any other tanking class if geared in the same fashion. They are well loved for their great tanking skills and can survive incredibly long. However, they are extremely gear dependent. If you don't have the gear, you will hit a wall and won't be able to tank in higher instances. Along with that they have the Fury build which is highly recommended to those starting out PvP as it is not as gear dependent as Arms is and allows you to dish out the pain fast and gain rage even faster. Arms at the same time will leave every class crawling on their hands and knees with the right gear as it will split people in two. The crits don't get any higher from any melee class.
PvE
Tank - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Your tanking talents are fine, but this is a more rounded spec for any situation.
Fury DPS - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
This is THE pure DPS spec at current. Take it up with the people at WoW Forums -> Warrior Guide Collection -- Read This Or Die if you think you know better.
Arms DPS - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft is my build of choice, although it varies slightly with some early Arms talents or the second tier Fury talents.
PvP
Arms - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft is what I usually roll with. You can substitute the points in Flurry for Tactical Mastery if you wish, or the points in 2h Weapon Spec for Imp Hamstring.
Fury -Talent Calculator - World of Warcraftif you are going to respec to PvP as Fury you might as well just spec MS... Fury PvP is useless. Completely broken.
Prot - Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft if you're PvPing as Fury why the hell not as Prot eh? That is kinda a survivability spec, more of an annoyance spec than anything really. Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft is a Shield Slam crit build AFAIK. I don't mess around with that stuff usually.
And there you have it. Sweet as you like.
I will try to update this as much as possible when i have time with:
Mage
Shaman
Druid
Hunter
And some talent trees for Warrior in Arms Pvp/Prot Pvp
Edit: credit to Ferag for some updates on Warrior
( If this is a repost feel free to delete but pls don´t flame )
Stay tuned!
