Its a good idea, but also horribly inefficient, even next to just having the 70 power you through quests.
I actually tested this today in the deadmines - the hunter kill rate is well over 3x the kill rate of the pet. With the Hunter in the group doing the killing, you get about 1/3 of the xp (on an elite mob). Basically, in the end this works out as being the same experience (or less) as just having the hunter straight up kill everything.
Its easy to test - time this: have the hunter move somewhere, cast eyes, move forward and kill as many mobs as possible, call pet when the time runs out, move forward, cast eyes again, and move to the next group of mobs. Now, see how many mobs the hunter can just straight up kill in the same amount of time (note, I'd probably try this somewhere other than DM, or at least try it in a section near the end where they are all elite, so the xp compares appropriately.)
Like I said, its a good idea, and it is definitely an exploit...it just isn't terribly efficient compared to other more standard (and non-exploitative) methods.![]()
