The Official Level 19 Twink Hunter Guide
So, this is it; the official level 19 twink Hunter guide. I will be coming out with guides for all other classes, but for now this is the first one. Anything that you see that is incorrect or untrue just be sure to correct it. I'm 99% positive this guide is right on the dot. I have two WoW accounts and 3 hunter twinks. Out of all of the classes that I've made twinks with (all classes) the hunters are the most powerful, longest lasting, honor rep machines, and the most fun to play. Their playing style is unique and yet easy to conquer. Once you get the hang of kiting, you really do well in BGs even if you don't have all the gear mentioned below. Hope this helps!
Gear:
Head: Green Tinted Goggles or Lucky Fishing Hat
Neck: Sentinel's Medallion (Alliance) or Scout's Medallion (Horde)
Shoulder: Serpent's Shoulders
Back: Glowing Lizardscale Cloak or Sentry Cloak
Chest: Blackened Defias Armor (Horde and Alliance) or Tunic of Westfall (Alliance)
Wrist: Forest Leather Bracers or Bristlebark Bindings
Hands: Gloves of the Fang
Waist: Deviate Scale Belt or Belt of the Fang
Legs: Dark Leather Pants
Feet: Footpads of the Fang or Feet of the Lynx or Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots
Ring1: Seal of Wrynn (Alliance) or Seal of Sylvanas (Horde)
Ring2: Protector's Band (Alliance) or Legionnaire's Band (Horde)
Trinket1: Insignia of the Alliance (Alliance) or Insignia of the Horde (Horde)
Trinket2: Arena Grand Master
Melee Weapon: Twisted Chanter's Staff
Ranged Weapon: Venomstrike
Quiver: Quiver of the Night Watch (Alliance) or Medium Quiver(Horde)
Ammo: Sharp Arrow
The gear does take a while to earn. Certain parts have to be done at certain levels. As far as what class to choose, NELF for Alliance and BELF/Troll for Horde. I would suggest Troll over BELF due to the extra crit chance for Trolls. Now, leveling your character until level 10. Once you hit 10 you need to start your VC (Deadmines), WC (Wailing Caverns), and SFK (Shadow Fang Keep) runs. The only need for this is a high level friend or two accounts with two separate computers. Or, if you're crazy like me you can run two WoW.exe's at one time on one computer with two different accounts all at one time.
So, moving on how to get each specific piece of gear:
Head: Green Tinted Goggles are gained through achieving 150 in engineering. I would suggest getting mining and actually mining through runs and on your way to level 10. For Lucky Fishing Hat, I would suggest going to the link I provided as it takes a while to explain, but is more then worth the wait!
Neck: The necks listed are gained through pvp in WSG (Warsong Wulch). They require only 20 WSG marks of honor and 65 Honor Points.
Shoulder: The shoulders are gained through a WC run and taking drop off of Lady Anacondra with a 8.7% chance to drop.
Back: While the Sentry Cloak is better, it takes a while to find one on AH for a good deal. So, through my WC runs I kill Skum and get the Glowing Lizardhide Cloak that has a 47% chance to drop.
Chest: The Blackened Defias Chest is essential for your health bonus. It is earned through running VC and drops off of the last boss, Edward VanCleaf. The chest is a 14.6% chance to drop. Or if you are alliance you can get Tunic of Westfall. In order to obtain Tunic of Westfall, you must complete the quest: The Defias Brotherhood. This is a chain quest and you must complete the previous parts in order to obtain this part. After you get the quest, you must run VC and kill Edward VanCleef and bring his head back for the reward. If you are alliance I would suggest getting Tunic of Westfall as it gives you and ample amount of agility.
Wrist: The wrist is BoE and can be bought at any AH for a rather cheap price. I would suggest getting Forest Leather Braces because the more agility the better.
Gloves: The best glove you can get for a leather wearing twink is The Gloves of the Fang. They are a random drop in WC and are rumored to be a .01% chance to drop. I consider this BS, just because everytime I make a twink this item drops. You may also buy it on the AH for about 30g.
Waist: The Deviate Scale Belt is a super easy item to get and its also a great item. For Horde you may find it on AH for 5g; for Alliance you can find it on AH for about 15g or just farm the mats and get someone to make it for you.
Legs: I would suggest getting Dark Leather Pants. You then get a level 60+ to add on your leg kit. After the leg kit is put on, THEN you may wear the pants. Be sure not too put them on before you get the leg kit placed on. Also, you may find about a million Dark Leather Pants on AH for under 1g easy.
Boots: The best boots for Hunters is the Footpads of the Fang. Many will argue that Feet of the Lynx is better, but that is not true at all. While the Feet of the Lynx are better for rogues, hunters do not need the wasted strength and extra 100g spent on the boots. Footpads of the Fang drop off of Lord Serpentis in WC and have a 22.8% chance to drop. The Nat Pangles Extreme Anglin' Boots are earned the same way as the Lucky Fishing Hat. I would suggest looking at the link to see how to get the boots.
Ring 1: Both rings listed are for the opposing factions. Seal of Wrynn is for Alliance and Seal of Sylvanas is for Horde. Seal of Wrynn is earned through obtaining the item "Unsent Letter" which drops off of Edwin VanCleaf in VC. Just follow the quest line and you will get your reward. To obtain Seal of Sylvanas, you must talk to Dalar Dawnweaver in the Sepulcher. You must also be level 18 to obtain this quest. Once you get this quest, all you have to do is get a SFK run and kill the last boss (Arugal).
Ring 2: Both of these rings are earned through WSG pvp rep rewards. They take 20 WSG marks of honor and 65 honor points to purchase.
Trinket 1: Both of these insignias are earned through gaining a large amount of honor for your level. For Alliance you purchase it at Champions' Hall and for Horde you purchase it at the Hall of Legends. Both factions sell it for 2805 honor points.
Trinket 2: This is the hardest piece to earn of all gear listed. You must have a group of high level friends to help you out and I would consider clicking on the link provided to learn how to get this item. If you don't feel like wasting 2 days on getting this item then just don't worry about it.
Melee Weapon: The Twisted Chanters Staff is bought off of the AH for about 105g.
Ranged Weapon: The Venomstrike is by far the best ranged weapon for any twink. It has the highest amount of possible DPS and also has a proc chance to deal poison damage. The bow is dropped off of Lord Serpentis in WC with a 17.1% chance to drop.
Quiver: The Alliance quiver is from a quest and just click the link to see how to do to the quest. As for Horde, the quiver is bought from any Bowyer lying around.
Arrows: Can be purchased at a Bowyer just like the Medium Quiver.
Enchants:
Now it's time for the enchants... ya that's right, the equipment is the easiest part and the enchants take for ever to get. But, moving on here they are:
Head: Lesser Arcanum of Constitution - +100 hp
Back: Superior Defense (+70 armor) or Enchant Cloak - Lesser Agility(+3 agility)
Chest: Major Health (+100 hp)
Wrist: Superior Stamina (+9 stamina)
Hand: Superior Agility (+15 agility)
Leg: Clefthide Leg Armor or Nethercleft Leg Armor
Feet: Greater Agility (+7 Agility) or Greater Stamina (+7 stamina) or Minor Speed
Weapon: Enchant 2H Weapon - Agility (+25 Agility)
Ranged: Accurate Scope (+3 Ranged Damage)
While there is many different options for enchants, these are the best. As for boots I consider getting Minor Speed enchant. The reason for this is if you get Ham-Stringed by a Warrior, you are capable of actually gaining distance from his melee attacks. The leg kits are optional and I usually get Clefthide until after I make my twink and play around with 'em. Other then that, everything is pretty basic and just remember THE MORE AGILITY THE BETTER and that you don't need extra stamina because you already have enough.
*As far as feet go, if you earn Nat Pangles Extreme Anglin' Boots then you have the chance to place THC enchants on them. With that said, I would consider getting Boar's Speed.*
Pet:
Next up is your pet:
This is most likely the easiest and quickest part. Unfortunately for Horde, this part is much easier if you are Alliance. Moving on... The pet of choice is: BOAR. They literally save your life. Boar's have the Charge move which charges and stuns your opponents (great against casters who are in mid-cast). I would suggest getting a lower level boar and getting it to be your "Best Freind," so you have all capable talent points. You need three skills for this pet, other then the trainer abilities of armor and stamina. The three are: Charge Rank 2 (16-19 Boars), Bite Rank 3 (ghostpaw Runner 19-20 in Ashenvale), and Gore Rank 3 (Greater Goretusk 16-17 in Redridge Mountains). While gaining the abilities, just place your low level Boar in the stables.
Talents:
Now we have your talents. Unfortunately for the Hunter there isn't a huge difference in which talents you choose.
Build 1:
Lethal Shots 5/5
Humanoid Slaying 3/3
Hawk Eye 2/3
Build 2:
Lethal Shots 5/5
Humanoid Slaying 3/3
Endurance Training 2/5
Build 3:
Lethal Shots 5/5
Improved Concussive Shot 5/5
Build 4:
Humanoid Slaying 3/3
Hawk Eye 3/3
Lethal Shots 3/5
Concussion Shot 1/5
The Build really doesn't make a difference, but I choose to use build 4 due to the Hybrid diversity and its nice every once in a while have a Concussion Shot proc.
Final Notes:
So ya, this is my first guide ever to the MMOWNED community and I've really wanted to do this for a while now. I apologize for any copying of any previous guides or anything along those lines. This is as in depth of a guide as it's gonna get for a hunter twink, but I do plan on continuing this cycle with future guides for other level 19 twink classes. Any +Rep would be nice for me, as I still have the title as a leecher. Any issues that are on this guide, please comment and let me know so that the general public knows and I know myself! Any improvements that can happen let me know also! This guide is not telling you what you HAVE to do in making a twink. It's just sharing my full knowledge on what works best for twink hunters. And just a personal note: this guide took me 4 hours; any rep would be greatly appreciated! I hope this helps and that you guys enjoy it! Special thanks to Thottbot for the quest links!
EDIT Section: (Yes I made mistakes)
EDIT: I capslocked, made green font color, and bolded the part about the more agility the better so that you guys can see it. It seems everyone is thinking this is a stamina hunter when really it isn't. On average this hunter only has 1.4k health. Also, my venomstrike speed is about 1.50 and I have a 30%+ chance to dodge with about a 20% chance to crit.
EDIT: I made the new edit section. Yes I can make mistakes!
EDIT: I added Tunic of Westfall to the chest section as it provides more agility, but yet is only available to Alliance. Also, add that the Blackened Defias Chest piece is available to Horde and Alliance and that the Tunic of Westfall was only available to Alliance.
EDIT: Added a title. WOOT!
EDIT: Explained how to earn Tunic of Westfall for the alliance characters, due to suggestions from post-morta comments.
