I'm a miner/BS and my main means of making money is prospecting ore, and making 1k gold an hour is pushing the envelope a bit... maybe he was thinking about like 6 months ago when cut gems went on AH for 60-80g. You can however make a fair bit of gold if you use your time effeciently.

Anyways, this is how I do it:

This is all common sense!

1: Mine lots of ore
Adamantite has the best rate of rare gems while prospecting, but don't skip other veins just for that.

2: Advertise in trade that you want a JC to prospect your ore
You don't need a friend to go JC when there are quite a few people that are leveling JC, or just try to make a few gold.

3: Offer something in return for prospecting
Personally I offer the prospector all the Powders in return for prospecting, and sometimes even the greens. This nets them a few gold for the trouble and improves your chances for repeat business and cuts for the rare gems that get prospected. (I have about 5 different people that prospect my ore that I don't know personally)

4: Check AH prices for all gems, and look up which cuts are the most expensive.
If the uncut gem sells for more than any of the cut gems, then don't have it cut.
Prices can fluctuate up to 30g+- in a day, so you might want to check prices before you get your ore prospected, if you inted to put the gems on AH afterwards.

5: After the JC has prospected the ore, ask for cuts (if it's profitable)
If the JC is happy about the prospecting deal, he/she will probably not mind cutting the gems that you got from prospecting, and if you are prepared with what cuts you want it won't take more than 5 minutes for the JC to cut them.
Offering 1-2g per cut is a curtesy that the JC's generally appreciate, this is probably lower than what they would charge for singular cuts, but since you have many gems ready and know what you want they usually won't mind.
Keep in mind that everyone likes to make fast gold, if the JC makes 10-20g from 5-10mins of work it will distract him from the fact that you're saving lots of gold by getting better prices.

6: Sell the gems
Since the turnover of gems is fairly high nowadays I find that putting one ore two gems at a time works best, undercutting by 1-2g. If prices for a particular gem is lower than usual, just wait until the price goes up again.


Tips:
- Mining your ass of isn't the most effiecent way to make gold, focus on mining at high-yield places at times when few players are playing. Nagrand and Terokkar works best in my opinion.

- Do dailies and whatever else you can while mining, for instance, doing Fires over Skettis and mining at the same time works fairly well. And if you're queued to a BG in Shattrath, fly into Terrokar and mine a bit before the enter message pops

- Put JC's in your friendslist for future prospecting.

- Spend as little time as possible on prospecting and selling gems, get your stuff prospected and cut fast, and put it on AH. Get right back to questing/mining/whatever, if the gem doesn't sell it's ok, just put it back up next time you're in town.

i use to do this and i would make like 30g to 80g a day you would have to be farming alot to get enough to make 1k gold a hour or alot of luck

Prospecting ore is all hit or miss. And the value of the rare stones varies from server to server. As far as the 2 accounts, not necessary. If you're a Jewelcrafter, mine your own and prospect your own. As far as the 1k gold per houor, fat chance.

Personally, i believe that "1k gold/hour" is more an attractive post title, than a fact. From the looks of it, it is a successful title too

Why 2 account's. Just get the mining skill on your JC char and u dont need to trade and stuff. And this is just a thought i had, why not buy the ore at the AH if the price is fair.
