There is a api function called DestroyTotem in wow.

DestroyTotem is used for the shaman to destroy his own totem...similar to Totem Recall. It has no use for someone to destroy totem's that aren't their own. Did you even read the link you posted?

I did read it... but since it was under the pet-category of the reference I assumed that it was to be used in conjunction with pets... my mistake.

Wouldn't a simple /target "Totem Name" work? I think I have read somewhere that hunter used this macro to target specific totems in arena.

I could be wrong though...

If I remember it right, they removed the ability to target totems with macros in some patches ago. I might be wrong though.

I checked and yeah, it was patched.

Destroying a totem should be a viable strategy but it should be a choice and require some effort on the part of the destroyer. Making a macro to have your pet attack the totem without having to target the totem first does not in our minds constitute enough effort.
