I've studied this, as a fact I've been scared as well of getting in trouble for WOW Scamming.

But... I'd like to state, that Robin does make a point. They suspended you're account, and received an E-mail from the person you phished.

Take this site for example... < You can send E-Mail's appearing as they came from other places.

The person you phished, was very clever.

Now, the FBI won't be knocking at you're door anytime soon, do you know why? The FBI receives 1000's of tips weekly... They never bother to respond to one, even if it's a Co-Terrorist trying to tell them of future events.

Sad but true, the FBI is searching like crazy dogs, when really people are brining them the info.

Yes, you're IP Adress could've gotten a lock and they could've tracked you down, sent your adress to the police.

If this statement were to be true, they have no authority to investigate nevertheless they have no proof. The FBI, isn't going to go to your door just because someone sent an email saying you scammed them. They could be lying.

Nevertheless, they'd firstly need to make an investigation with a budget of 1000$'s of dollars.

To contact the FBI, you must send them a verification via fax, such as a Birth Certificate. It's not as easy as sending a email.

Chances are, this could cost some cash on the site to just notify...

Also, since they have NO PROOF. They'd have to get the info or chat logs from AOL, WOW, and whatever services you used. This could take months, if you send an E-mail to Blizzard you won't get a bloody reply in weeks! If they don't have the info, to bad... If they do, but don't want to share it, the phished person has every right to sue Blizzard or AOL for not giving them data.

Also, you can say "Why not just open a ticket?" GM's are crap, they won't tell you shit of your accounts whereabouts and just tell you to call Billing.

Alright if you still have the email, checks the email headers, Trace the ip, make sure its from them.
Oh and also, maby the guy got your email, and decided to try to scare you into getting his shit back
