Character stealing question

Has anyone ever had an experience where they transferred a stolen character to a new account, then banned the original account, and still ended up losing the transferred character?

Just wondering how secure the process is, I have a few characters I would like to keep then sell as legit accounts.

I have heard of this happening before, but seems to be pretty rare. I believe if the owner of the original account contacts blizzard and can convince them that they were hacked then the ban may be removed and the toon would go back to the original account.

This rarely happens, because even if the person calls Blizzard and say's my account was banned! They can't talk about it on the phone. The phone line is for Billing etc. There is no Account Administration line.

To cut to the chase...

If you transfer a character and ban the old account the chances of losing the character are slim!

And btw how do you do the payment for the transfer? Isn't using your own credit card a bit risky? Like is there a way you could be charged for something doing this?

I too have wondered this.

They have made a new internet form that you can fill out and get your character back. Even if the original account was banned. I do believe you need ID though? This is US speaking that is.

Basically, you are able to recall (change the email) of banned accounts. If you do that and then send an email in, there is a chance you can get it unbanned. Then, it's just a matter of filling out a form to get the transfer reversed, and the chars will be back on your account, good as new.
