Well i guess the title kinda helps me to get to the point.

What i have seen when using the turtle mount scam is that people will get more comfortable with the pursade if you give them some kind of discount on the items.

One i have been using alot is with the Spectral Tiger, I can say for instance "Would you be intrested in buying a second Tiger aswell for one of your friends, just for today/this week, we have 50% discount on the second mount you buy."

I also use 25% of a tabard if you buy a mount.

I hope that helps you, i sure "sold" alot more codes using this tecnique.
