I think it sounds great, delete that thread, and post there, as you told that guy to do:

So this idea is great and all, but if you have all that information, you still don't have the account, since when you change the password, they can change it back. If you try to change the email address, they get a notice and they won't change so you can have their account...

I've gotten an account from this already, but that took a lot of work on my part, and stupidity on his.
