[warning] possible new scam targetting private gold sellers

Ok. So I was selling some gold to a couple of companies today. I created a new level 1 orc and ran it to Ratchet, which is where some gold sites will want to meet you if it's hordeside. Anyhow, there was a level 80 hunter standing inside the inn with his pet out. No big deal. He did log out though shortly after I got there. There were a handful of other toons scattered about as well. At the time, I was in live chat with one of the gold site reps. Not a very sophisticated one, either.

Long story short, while I was waiting for this gold site tard to create his toon and run to me, a level 1 orc just like mine ran up from the graveyard (just as I had) and opened a trade. The site I was dealing with had initiated trades in this manner before. I put my gold into the window, traded, typed my stuff to the gold gook (who typed "ok" into chat) then went on my merry way. But no payment posted. So I logged into live chat again with the order number, etc., and the angry gold trader was demanding to know where I had gone and why I hadn't delivered his gold. Which brings me to one of three conclusions:

1.) Big Brother intercepted it
2.) The gold man is a scammer
3.) there is a very clever 3rd party scammer laying in wait for stupid gold sellers to trade them gold. my theory is that he places an order with a company he knows well and waits for their seller to log in (that's me) and hook up with the gold company. He then initiates a trade with the seller and both the gold company and the seller are royally screwed. Hm that sounds kind of complicated.

I am not sure which of these to believe. The gold man did say that one of his accounts was banned during our later conversation. Pretty shady imo. However, I have done huge sales with them before and they paid me those times. Not sure why they would screw me over an amount a fraction that size.

It could be that the demand on that server was low and they didn't want to pay me for the gold.

Any way you look at it, it's B.S. hehe. Watch your back when selling to mmofly fyi.

Had good experiences with mmofly, except that they have very bad english, and when they were gonna give me a cdkey, the wrote a z instead of a 7. that took them 20 minutes to figure out.

Also, they pay low, but they are fast to deal with, something i like.

I have had lots of good sales with them too, like I said, but this time was hella shady. He claimed he had a customer but the server in question had 0 demand on a competing site... hrm hrm.

always get the name of the char you are trading from live chat/msn/aim ect then that could never happen if it was just someone who thought make a level one and open trade and hope for the best

Lately the mmofly people have been taking about 25 min to actually get around to completing the trade with me, not sure what contributed to the sudden drop in service, but yes I admit I traded hastily when someone finally ran up to me and opened trade, rofl. they even invited me to party first... interesting. XD

Anyhow, yeah. I posted this so tards can learn from it and think about it, etc... I apparently learned my lesson. They don't pay jack anyway, it's just a good place to unload in a hurry.

yea i use a different company who pays about 2-3X the $$. hahaha, mmofly sucks.

mmofly is legit, this is more then likely what happened to you.

Use mmopawn.com they pay very fast aswell.

This happened to me, except I went on the account with another ip and opened a ticket saying my gold had been hacked, I Got it back, then sold the gold (it wasnt my account lol). Also, im 99% sure he got banned

Another time I was at SW bank and people randomly traded me, i felt nice and gave some lvl 18 6000g, and any time on that realm i send all the gold to him, over 25k so far
