Simple Mass account scam

Basically, people generally use the same username/password for many things.

As you know, there are many WoW guilds that have their own websites.
However, most of these are on a website made and managed by somebody else, to support wow guilds. This however won't work for our scam.

You have to go buy a domain, like www.[Guildname][Realm].com (Ex: www.CruscadersofAzerothAggamagan.com) Domains are really cheap, somewhere like 8$ a month. It's not like you're even going to need it for that long.

After you do this, set up a shitty site, no need to be fancy, and make it so you can't access forums until they've made an account. This is basically so they don't get discouraged and decide not to make an account on such a shitty site. While making it, make sure that you will have access to people's usernames/passwords when they register.

Now go on guild chat, you don't even have to be guild master, and announce that you made a website for the guild and you want everyone to make an account. Especially whisper the officers of your guild/leader and tell them that you want them to register so you can give them admin powers.

Hopefully, about half of these registered people will use the same info as their wow account. If the password is just a word, try adding a number like 1 or 2 at the end, which is what most people do in WoW.

If you get one of the officers, you are good to go, because you get an account and full access your guild bank. Now jack everything, and launder it off to one of your characters. Now the best part is that you can use these accounts to scam more, or sell them to websites. If you get lucky, they will have another character who is in another guild, with which you can repeat the scam over again.

Basically, this is just a phishing scam, but it makes people give their password on accident, without realizing it. Also, when they sign up, they will give their real email, which you can use to send them "You have been banned" letters, and more!"

It's pretty straight forward, but I'm not sure if it has ever been posted here before. If done right, you can just keep doing this nonstop to guilds, sell the accounts, make a decent profit.

If you want, you could put a link to the "Forum", and then just have a message saying, "We are experiencing server difficulties, we'll be back shortly!"

Most people will think it's real, saving you tons of work.

*UPDATE #2*

You can also do a variation where you go on a high level, preferably 80, and go make a guild with some super epic name. (Not gay)
Then announce in /2 that you have a guild with 6 Bank tabs, with 20k Gold in the guild bank, and that you're looking for highly experienced players to do end game raids. Also say that there will be only a handful of people, the best of the best, that will be allowed to join.

All of a sudden, you will get spammed with whispers. Make a macro that tells them to go to your website, and they have to post an application with their expirience / armory link / blablabla, and this will all be reviewed, and a winner chosen.

Hopefully this will attract people from all over your server.

[Note, that nothing that you're saying is actually breaking the rules, so you can announce this with your main, without fear of getting banned]

nice tip, problem is though on most guildsites they sign up with their Main in game char name and password without numbers, but if ur lucky the pass will work for their e-mail and u can do some reserch in there
