JP's Ingame Scamming Made Easy


For most in-game scamming methods you need some form of advances social engineering skills. Most forum members do not have that, or just do not want to spend any time learning it. For those people, and people who are tired of the old scams, I've come up with a new way to scam people in-game.
My new method involves interviewing the players.
You are part of a new Blizzard experiment called *BICS.

You interview people in-game to see how they think about the game.
You can find my own personal template below but feel free to come up with your own questions and idea's.

What you will need:
1. A trial account
2. A phisher (just search the forum for one you like, it does not matter)

How to start
Login with your trial account and find a victim.
In my experience lower level players fall for it more easy then hardcore raiders.

Start scamming - my template:
Note:
= player's name
answers are not important, just meant as an example.

You: Hello there ! Can I get a minute of your time?

2 things might happen here.

1. Sure, whattup?
2. Who has two thumbs and does not give crap.. !

If option 1 happens, continue to read. If option 2 happens, find a new victim.

You: My name is John (feel free to use your own name) and I am part of the new Blizzard Ingame Costumer Survey, BICS if you prefer.
I would like to ask you some questions about your gameplay experience.

Again, the two options:
1. Sure, ask away?
2. No time.. Sos…

You get the idea…

You: Thanks! First question, do enjoy the new expansion? Do you think it’s better then the first expansion called “Burning Crusades”?
Yeah, I love it!

You: Do the gold sellers still bother you? Do you think the amount of seller’s have decreased?
I buy gold all the time, I wish they where cheaper…
Answer does not matter. Continue.

You: I am almost done. Again, I appreciate it that you are allowing us to get your opinion.
You: Next question, do you think we should decrease the amount of XP you need to level from 70-80?
Yes! I hate it how much stuff I have to kill in order to get some XP…

You: Last question! How long have you been playing World of Warcraft?
2 years.

You: Thank you for participating in the In-game Survey! As a little thank you we will reward you with 10 day’s of free gametime! Login on the following site and you will be automatically put into the system: *1 yourphisher.com
You: If you do not get your gametime within 72 hours, please contact us at: *2 [email protected]

*1 = replace with the url to your phisher
*2 = keep this email in your conversation!
It looks real because it ends with @blizzard.com
It does not excist but that is not important.
You will allready have all their stuff before they find out the address is fake!


FAQ:
Q: How come the site url is not bics.blizzard.com ?
A: we are expirmenting with ingame survey's, it's not official yet.
When it becomes official we will be using a bics.blizzard.com url.

Probably 1 reported you, just make a new account
Make sure the host supports PHP, otherwise you will not get an email.
Test it yourself to see if it works.

it works... i thought i cant whisper anyone without making a full acc. testacc wont work(europe)

The idea is nice, but there are 2 big problems:

1) While emails have the phishing URL masked (that's why people fall), you can't mask the URL in game. If you say "Thanks, please go to http://www.free-host.com/wowsurvey/ to claim your gametime." no one will fall.

2) You can't whisper players with a trial account unless they have whispered you first or added you to their friend list.

Yeah this is the only problem w/ that scam.

1. Answer: That's because we are still experimenting with this new service to see how people like it. When the experiment is a success we make it official and it will be hosted on the Blizzard server.

But I have had no one who complained about it.

2. Use a scammed account. Or walk to a player and say the text. If he's interested tell him to whisper you.
