A lot of you may have gotten lucky because the Blizzard Call center is full of morons. However, this is the official policy on this -

All name changes require documentation of legal name change. If you got married, they will ask you to provide the birth certificate. If you changed your name legally, they will ask you to provide that documentation as well.

They might be relaxed about it now, but the more people that know about it, the more they will start cracking down. It's the same reason they required people to start faxing in notaries for unlocking an account.

But this is good information Stan's Dad. I personally didn't know you could do this until I read your thread. I called and confirmed that there are little loop holes here and there. Although I don't condone scamming someone out of an account using this method, this is an informative post.

So.... I was thinking about this, would you want to say that you are doing it so you can X-fer characters... Or that you would be breaking the ToS/EULA or whatever the hell it is and you don't want your account banned for that.

I don't even let them know that my intentions are that I want to xfer characters. I also don't talk about the ToS/EULA. I pretty much have my girlfriend call up and say, "I just got married and I'm want to update my account information just incase something happens."

Still have had no problems with this scam, but who knows. Maybe it won't work for everyone.
