Warlock DPS in Wrath?

I have only seen really crappy locks as of late than I guess.
Naxx 10 yesterday, lock pulled off around 1.1-1.2k dps
VoA 10 yesterday, 2 locks both pulled around 1.2k-1.3k dps

Do they just really suck or are locks underpowered ?

I play a lock myself and love the class. It does seem a bit broken atm for pve and definitely broken for pvp. But in pve I have always ran either as meta/ruin or felguard/emberstorm. I love playing both specs and they both put out nice numbers for me. I played affliction a few times and it is by far the most dmg, but much more troublesome to keep up with. But to give you a rough nuber, i can pull 3500 DPS on the target dummies in org (in a 5 minuteish window) as felguard/emberstorm with only fel armor and a spellstone on my weapon (and my felguard of course). As meta I can ussually pull about the same, sometimes a little more, little less. When i spec back to meta, i ussually change a few points to do a couple tests for fun.

But to put it short, a lot of locks do suck in pugs. I actually have 2 level 80 warlocks lol. My main on one server, and I rolled a lock on a friends server and raid with them when my main guild is done for the week (we do everything in one night). On my alt lock, i have like 2 pieces of valarous, 1 piece heroes and the rest are random heroic/10 man gear and I can easily pull 4.5k+ as felguard/emberstorm in 25 mans and 3.5K+ in 10 mans.

Our warlocks are all some variant of 56/0/15 (WorldofWarcraft.com -> Info -> Classes -> Warlock -> Talent Calculator) and do about 4.5k-5k consistently w/o a doomguard. (currently a doomguard does over 1k dps by himself) and 6k dps with.

As for PvP well contrary to popular warlock QQ, warlocks are actually very strong and one of the best dps you can get in arena. The only downside is having at least 800 resilience is almost as important as having fear bound. Warlocks particularly mesh well with shamans and paladins.

Too bad the FG/ES build is gonna be nerfed in 3.1. I'm on the PTR right now trying to put together a decent build that fits my playstyle (hiding behind a big scary guy and lighting you on fire).

Warlock DPs is fine. The skilled few who can keep an affliction rotation up, will still be able to top the meters. Spamming Shadowbolt belongs to the past.

Best in slot warlock with the correct gear, gems, enchants, spec, and rotation should do 7-9k average.

I'm a warlock, and I have to say, it pretty much sucks in PvP. Don't counter anyone, The only time I can ever kill people is in big crowds, by using Shadowfury (Destro spec) or Immolation aura (Demon Spec). I still find leveling is fun as hell with demon, because of metamorphosis, and the felguard. For Raiding I would suggest either Affliction or Destro, Affliction is really good for Dots, but since a lot of other classes can Dots now, It cancels out the affliction spells, etc. Destro was the best fit for me in patch 3.0.2, could crit 4.7k with chaos bolt, and was doing pretty well in Arena. Now that Wrath is out I would say Demon because you can take on about 10 mobs at a time with Metamorphasis and Immolation aura.

Destro is great when utilized right in arena, and by utilized, have a great partner [Torment rolls with a mage] who can work together with you in coordinating CC.

But since I have a Warlock [destro] as a partner, I can also say he gets brutally murdered by most classes. And as affliction, he'd fair a lot better, but come next patch, affliction doesn't seem very PVP viable.

In raids, our regular lock who's pretty much full BiS w/o a TT does top 10 DPS, but never really gets close to the top 5.

With WOTLK brought new function to warlocks. My warlock pulls 3k dps with an affliction spec and imperfect gear. 2 of my close friends play warlocks with near perfect gear and both push 4-5k on all boss fights and like 6k on patchwerk. The rotation and keeping a steady dps for Affliction is very challenging and takes skill and effort. Although affliction is very good there is also felguard demo spec that is very comparable if you are geared for haste.

warlock ist great at the moment. the next patch (3.1) will kind of hit affli badly tho (regarding pvp). the overalldmg will also go down.

Warlocks have the highest DPS of all classes when it comes to raiding.
