Getting unbanned for the big HB waves is practically impossible and his method is to get you to use a proxy (and he sells a proxy, surprise!) and claim you've been hacked while demanding to see a supervisor over and over. Blizzard considers hacks to be your own fault now.

I'm not saying he has never gotten people unbanned. Just not really anymore and definitely not for the big HB bans.

Another thing I think people need to watch out for is a lot of people pretending to be Sephirofl looking to make some easy money.

And based on my email I got I'd say appeals are going to be hard if not near impossible to achieve. It pretty much hints at the fact the have solid evidence against banned HB users this time. Particularly given that HB was obviously detected somehow.

I have some ideas that others are going to test for me for potential appeals based around Blizzards own explanation of why they are avoiding permanent bans this time around.

EDIT 2: yykaan on HB forums has gotten some interesting replies from a few different GMs he has spoken to.

First comment: "... when the detection was running on your character, we did not see any activity or sign from any user..."

Second comment included: "...bot usage leaves some marks behind it"

None of the GM answers are interresting, none of them ever been anywhere near the anti-hack/bot developper team.
On big banwave like that, they know it slightly in advance and they are briefed, like: "0 UNBAN on that, blabla, etc".

Then the rest is totally up to the GM imagination.

This was the 4th Banwave. How can you still use the word "undetectable" in any form related to botting? Botting will never be undetected anymore. WoW has a huge experience in using anti-cheat-mechanics. Starting from Wardens in D2, to WoW and Overwatch. Even Hearthstone and D3. Bot detection is everywhere. Even in Pokemon-Go. Banwaves are the new thing.

Most of them hit HB entirely, but now they also hit some smaller bots/hacks. You can see the frequency in which they are sending out these banwaves. More or less every 6 months. A bot always looks save and undetectable until it's hit by a banwave and after every banwave, there are people telling "I didn't bot in the last 3 months" and 1 month before a banwave, there are always people telling "I'm botting since 5 months so its pretty save".

It does not matter. As soon as bots are injected, their processes are automated and recognizing their patterns is an ease for blizzard. Even if there is some randomization, you can easily apply statistical models to this kinds of process. And even if this is not enough, if there is the perfect bot, with the perfect automiation, than you will see 200 "players" with this perfect automation hence you will always catch these botters. Always. There are so many ways, so many possibilities to catch the botters, no matter how good they are developed.

You can expect Banwaves to happen from time to time, the next banwave will surely be in ~6 months. Don't use them if you're afraid to loose everything.

What else do you use? Be honest. I have 6 accounts and botted on 3 via Noobbot. 2 of them got banned. I used gnomesequencer on all 6 accounts.

Yes. If you were actively botting between last Thursday and today, you probably got hit. I had 3 accounts using thenoobbot and they only banned the two that botted between those days. The 3rd botted 8 days ago.

I'd say most if not all bots are at high risk at the moment- well higher risk than they normally are. Whilst the banwave hit mostly HB users it also hit a lot of other bots.

Frankly I wouldn't use them for a while just to be safe. Or if you do use them then be prepared to suicide the account.

You can turn it off in your auth page. Their update today says basically they have no idea what is going on though yet.
