WoW Account Poll: Do You Need ID?
Just asking this for curiosity's sake, but when you (personally speaking) buy a WoW account, do you ask for a copy of the Original Owner's ID? Why or why not?

Definitely. Without that, I have no leverage if they secure the account back from me. Even with it, I still feel a little bit nervous logging in every day, but I know if it's just hacked by some random dude I can 100% get it back.

I most certainly would.. mainly because if they won't provide it on request.. seems kinda suspect..
Don't get it twisted though.. lots of account buying / selling FAQs will try to tell you if you get the ID you're golden they can't recall the account..
Not only can they.. if you also submit some form of identification they'll just close the account for multiple owners contesting rather than take the time & trouble to try figuring out what's really going on here..
Kind of a shame.. means someone with some ambition could steal accounts.. use them until they're noticed then just burn it all to the ground :-(
The worst part of it all though is there isn't anything anyone can do to stop people from attempting to chargeback / recall.. just a risk we take :-/
You can & should certainly attempt to minimize your risk.. submit the evidences you do have should disputes arise.. & hope for the best ;-)

Interesting perspective. I agree for the most part, although if someone wants to recall an account, there's really not much someone can do with one ID picture. Nowadays Blizzard wants multiple forms of identification that only the Original Owner could possibly provide. I stopped asking for IDs when buying accounts a long time ago; it boils down to a false sense of security in my opinion.
